Hi

I have two mobile manicure and pedicures in one appointment tomorrow, so i am just thinking about all the stuff i need to take and so far it seems to be my whole salon!!

I was thinking about saving the amount of towels i need by asking the client to rinse their hands under the tap after the exfoliation process instead of me wiping it off with a warm towel. I wouldn't however do this for the pedicure, i would use the towels!

How many of you do/would do this?

I was also thinking of buying some funky coloured washing up bowls for the pedicures as i only have one foot spa and would need to disinfect it between each person.

Do you think this is ok to do or should i explain that i need to disinfect the foot spa, and could i use their facilities to do this?

Your advice is as always greatly appreciated!

Im a mobile and home based therapist and I always use flannels instead of towels for exfoliation removal. Finding them easier to use (not so big and bulky) it also cuts down on the amount of towels needed plus washing.

I once did 3 pedicures in one go and just cleaned and sanitised between each. I did tell the client what I was doing and she seemed happy enough but I would always ask where would be best to do this.

I try to be bright and breezy when going into clients homes, taking charge and making myself at home but am very conscious that its their home so I always put everything back as it was. You have to be comfortable with how you're set up but as long as you're honest clients and in my experience they're fine.

Hi there,

I also use flanels for removing exfoliator in manicures (so much easier), I wouldnt ask my clients to rinse it off as I dont think this looks very professional (in my opinion).

I also just clean and sanitise equipment between clients (if they are all at one premises then you can do in between treatments) or if you are traveling from one client to another I would be inclined to do it at the end of the treatment. I believe if you are explaining to the client what you are doing they would be perfectly happy with it as it is showing them that you are using clean equipment and people appreciate this.

I just think ahead and count the amount of towels I am going to need and make sure I take enough (I know it does feel like you are taking your whole salon with you!!!) It is taking me a bit of time to get used to too!!!
