Hi, Im fairly new to this site and love reading the posts that you all put on :)

So I have just started a nail course at college and have to say I am really enjoying it. We are practising manicures and I have all the tools that I need but I need to buy some creams, now is this right?????? I need:
cuticle remover
cuticle cream
buffing cream
hand massage cream
and any ideas where I can buy this from??

Thanks
Sam :p

Do the colleges not give students any guide of what they need or where to buy it??

I just find it hard to believe that students have to muddle along on their own with no guidance!! Is this normal?

Strange as it may seem Gigi, the answer is 'yes'. One would think that a college or tutor would want to help their students out as much as possible and I am sure some do, but some are left to their own devices.

 Astounding!

When i was at college we used Jessica and we could buy the products through the college at a discount price, maybe you should enquire at your college or ask your tutor..xx

I really wouldnt bother with the buffing cream it's so pointless and you wont do it in industry.
You may also want to get the hand scrub and hand mask. These are luxury treatments, so not sure if you are covering this. Also you mat want to buy some paraffin wax and some oil. Oh and sum warm mitts
xxxx

When i done manicure at college the tutor didnt really say where abouts to go etc, but i knew there was a sally's near where i lived so i went there and then a few of the other girls training new of another wholesalers nearby so thats where i go now.

Hun, maybe if you go into a few salons near where you live and ask them where they go to give you an idea of where you can get your bits. HTH. x

I'm amazed that college didn't provide a kit list. They usually provide an order form for students for their preferred supplier, e.g. beauty express etc. Some students can choose to buy and make up their own kit individually but I found on my course that they were missing some essentials and things like creams weren't the right consistency for massaging with.

What you will need will depend on the criteria you need to cover inyour qualification. We did have to cover buffing so we did need the buffing cream for ours but it may be that you don't need to cover that for yours but I would be surprised. I would take the advice already given and speak to your tutor about their preferred supplier and recommended products to buy and also ask if they have a kit list that includes exactly what creams etc you need such as buffing cream, masks, exfoliants.

Glad you're enjoying your course though, I know I thoroughly enjoyed mine. Good luck :)

wow, you have to buy youre own ?? at the college in worcester, they supplied us with all the products and equipment we needed to use, which was nailtiques, wax heaters, mitts, etc, we had our basic kits anyway, but what about paraffin wax, and heated mitts ? will you be learning to do this too and have to supply youre own stuff:)
