I have already posted a thread relating to this a little while back but didn't really get much feed back from CND Marine pedicure users on this subject ...

Basically my question was would you use the marine mask on cracked heels on the feet? The reason that i ask is that I dont my first pedi the other week on a lady with cracked heels, skin was really bad.

I noticed that the green mask was embedded in her heels and no amount of scrubbing by me seemed to shift it, really spoilt the look and feel of the end result.

Should I avoid using the mask on cracked heels and if so is there an alternative mask to use or should I just skip the whole step????

Thanks ...

Hi, i have not experienced this problem with cracked heels. The following is my opinion only not that of CND. IMO I see no reason for skipping this beautiful step in the pedicure. When massaging the masque to distribute the product onto the clients foot I would take extra care around the cracked heals and instead of massaging firmly into the heel I would gently spread. I wrap the foot in a terry towel and continue with the other foot. I then submerge the wrapped foot into the footbath and remove masque with wet towel.. I am sure you will then not have the need to scrub the masque out of the cracks.

I hope this helps, and if any other geeks have any ideas I trust they will share:hug:

hi if the cracks are that bad then you probobly get better results by doing a callus peel aha treatment on the feet which will get rid of the hard dead skin rather than a mask in my opinion just softens it x

The thing about callus is that you shouldn't try to remove it, only smooth it. That said, I use Callus Peel treatments a lot, which uses AHAs to remove the build up of really bad callus, after which you can smooth and soften very easily. You can also use this as a retail opportunity to sell a high urea content heel balm such as CCS balm or Flexitol. If your client uses said balm nightly they'll never have cracked heels again.
With regard to your original question, soak the feet after the masque, and be careful of scrubbing into the cracks as you run the risk of making them bleed. If the woman has allowed her heels to get so bad as to crack I doubt a subtle eau de nil tinge is going to trouble her one iota.
Try Beauty Select for the Callus Peel treatments, and GP Supplies for the Flexitol.

Thanks for your replies .... !

Will look up the callous treatments and try the smoothing instead of massaging in .. and try a wet towel to remove

Thanks again!

I use a natural sponge to remove the masque, but only once it's had a chance to soak off a bit, say 2 mins or so.
