Hi Geeks,

I have a few regular clients but really need more.

Got all the free advertising I can, and have handed out leaflets, giving clients a discount if they present the voucher - what else can I do??

I am a home based salon therefore have no passing trade, cant think of anything else to do to attract clients at the moment and am feeling a little low about it :| any advice would be greatly appreciated.

A company I used to help me organise my chairty tanathon earlier this year, they were so helpful and brilliant designed invites for me, flyers and posters and even gave me ideas ironically I had put so much thought into the tanathon I hadnt contemplated doing a raffle too......(how embarrassing!!) they were so helpful...Anyway I hadnt really thought much more of it but they contacted me out of the blue, to tell me they are now launching and online marketing site, similar to facebook except for beauty businesses, be it big or small.

You get your own page, which you control (like fb or myspace etc) and the public can search on this.....so its like your advert for your business. They send out quarterly marketing "packs" with templates for vouchers, invites for launches and events, press releases, ideas for offers, and general marketing tips etc, the girls beind it used to be beauty therapists and know there stuff. I have been lucky enough to have a peak at some of the marketing stuff and I have to say, I will be subscribing for sure!!!

the above link is fantastic and will give loads of pointers....also put words such as 'marketing' - 'advertising' - 'promotion' etc into the search bar at the top of the page, you will find loads of threads full of useful info xx

Thanks for all the advice

What is the name of the company?

There is a wonderful organization called BNI (Business Networking International).
It is a one person per profession organization, so you lock out your competition when you join.
I have been a member of my chapter, right outside of San Francisco for the last three years and from this group, I'm pulling in about $1,600/month in addition to my normanl income, from other members referrals alone.
It is a great opportunity to have a sales team of 30 people working as your advertising team, especially since your location is home based.
Good Luck!

The link for Sassy Hassey advice as shown above isnt working? Can anyone shed any light?

Thanks

Maybe it's worth mailshotting all your regulars to remind them you're there.
Search on here for everything that other people have done, and the levels of success they acheived with it.
Maybe it would be easier to rent a room in a salon, where at least you have the hair clientele to target.

Do you know if this will only be available for uk beauty therapists or will we be able to use it in ireland. It sounds fab would defo like to know more about it.
