Hi guys

I know the obvious answer to this but i'm asking it anyway. Do clients really have to wait 6 months to have a massage after a c section? I know scarring/operations have to be 6 months old or more but a client wants a massage and she had her baby about 6 weeks ago. could i do the massage and just avoid the stomach area or would you avoid massage completely???

Thoughts please

I wouldn't do it personally. I know you have to wear the stockings for 6 weeks to stop blood clots but I would be worried as it's only just past that time. I couldn't imagine going for a massage 6 weeks after my c section but then everyone is different!
Ask her for a G.P note to cover your back or speak to your insurance company. xxx

I wouldnt do it hun. For obvious reasons. Rules and contra indications are there for a reason. Its usually the one off time when you dont stick to them that something goes wrong. xx

I had a c section 8 weeks ago and feel completely normal again. I would definately avoid the stomach area (she probably wont want that anyway) and keep checking that she is comfortable but i can totally understand why she would want one :) although not sure i would want to risk giving one. . .
Definately get a note from her doctor.

I have had 4 sections and can be totally honest and say that is no way i could stand anyone touching that area, from belly button down.

I think everyone is different but my baby is 17months old and my scar still aches sometimes, it has to do with adhesions and scar tissue. Definately check with you insurance and her doctor.

No I wouldn't, even with a G.P letter I wouldn't be happy to. Its a major operation and even if she feels completely better, she will not be healed internally yet and you still have to think about blood clots, new scar tissue etc.

If you are not massaging the abdominal area, and the client feels comfortable lying face for back part, then there is absolutely no problem with it. If you are not happy to perform the massage though, that is your decision which must be respected.
