Massage courses - Europe

Hi!

My wife and I have a holiday let business in northern Spain and we would like to offer massages to our guests. We both have no experience in this so we are looking for your advice to find the right course to get us started

To practice massage in Spain and get insurance, is it mandatory to have completed a course that is certified? I have seen ITEC certified courses or are there others I should look for? (BTEC, VTCT, City & Guilds).

For our first course, I think we would like to do something intensive. I found these courses in Southern Spain and wonder if these would be suitable?

If anyone has recommendations of courses in Europe, that would be appreciated! - the course doesn't have to be in Spain, we are prepared to travel if required.

I trained with Jing in Brighton, U.K. They offer courses from beginner to level 6. The beginner courses are enough to set up in business in the UK (you'll have to check about the regulations for Spain). and cost around £1000. What is particularly good is that you are taught skills to enable you to deliver a lot of massage without physical Burn out.

It would be a good way to dip a toe into the water and see whether it's for you. The courses are modular, delivered in chunks of a few days.

i'm currently half way through a level 6 qualification with Jing and I've done nearly all the other Jing courses. I really rate them and Ive met loads of amazing therapists. People travel from all over the World (Jing are regarded as the best massage school in the UK) and I've met quite a few therapists based in Spain, there's one on my course.

You can take additional mini courses to build your skill - I recommend the hot stones, it's one I haven't done but all the Jing therapists Ive met said it was amazing. I did the beginners course just to recap the basics before progressing on to the other courses. I think there were about 22 of us. Around 10 set up businesses, all have been successful. A few have continued their training, but some are quite happy with the skills they acquired from the first course. I know of at least one person who gave up a good income job to change to full time freelance massage therapist with just the skills of the beginners course under their belt - so they must be doing well.

Hi, after Bretix is good to find information with the local authorities. Massage therapy is a medical profession in the US . I have been practicing it for 16 years and I am national board certified. I am also thinking about opening a massage therapy place in Spain.
