Medication/illness that can cause polish to chip/peel

Hi All,

I know we aren't doctors and we can't diagnose, blah, blah, blah, but does anyone know if there are particular medications/illnesses that can cause nail polish on natural nails to peel (in particular) or chip?

Everything we eat/take and the state our health in general affects your nails.

It isn't the meds or health that causes nail polish to chip it is the condition of the nails. Weak and thin nails will bend more easily and cause chipping ... too long a length at the free edge can cause polish to chip ... oily nail plate will cause polish to chip ... crappy polish chips ... many many things can affect the adhesion of polish.

Wipe you nails over with Acetone to thoroughly dry the surface of the nail plate then base colour and top in thin layers (don't miss any coats as you need all 4). Then see how you go.

Your nails have been 'through the mill' recently and most likely their general condition has caused this to happen. :hug:

It is my friend's mom's nails. I painted them on Friday and she said the polish peeled off on Saturday!!! However, everyone else who i've painted including mine and her one daughter's has NEVER peeled. I also used Orly. She is coming back this morning for a re-paint. I will post a piccy in Critique of her nails after I painted them on Friday. She does have very bad arthiritus (sorry for spelling) in her fingers as you may see from her pics and I was just wondering if this could be the reason.

Some people are completely intolerant to nail polish and their 'chemistry' causes this to happen always .... I don't know in this ladies case (sorry I thought you were refering to your own nails in your post ) But as I said all the things above .. general health, what we eat all affect the nail plate.
