Hello,
I am a salon owner and am not a stylist.
I currently have 3 full time stylists, 1 part-time stylist and one manager in my employment.
There is a salon in town with 4 stylists who want to merge into our salon but don't want to be employees. They would rather rent chairs.
With the cost of stat pay, vacation pay, etc., would it be in my best interest to change the situation with my current employees to the same chair rental thing, or would it be in my best interest to have these 4 stylists come on board as employees.
The girls I have now are getting 50% but we have a $2 surcharge on every service that goes directly to the overhead.
If chair rental is the way to go, what is the going rate and how do you make it fair to the stylists who pump out customer after customer and use a lot of product versus the stylist who is still building her clientele and sometimes has nobody?
Any suggestions and/or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
