hi

thats me nearly set up to do my spray tanning. just waiting on my opening order to arrive.

i'll be doing spray tans from my spare room. but i'm also going to use the room for beauty treatments once i pick products and get my confidence up. its been 2 years since i qualified, i've moved, had a baby and not had time to do any of my beauty work so really needing to practice

im confident in the taning so going to start with that. i have my spray tent for the tanning and my beauty couch for other treatments

the room is well ventilated but i'm worrying about the mess it'll leave. i've got a carpet on the floor and walls and window sill are white.

what can i do to prevent mess? my friend who also spray tans said her room is covered in spray dust. i cant afford a ventilator at the moment so just having to make do

Hiya, I'm mobile but I do a few spray tans a month in my en suite (in the tent of course) but the bathroom still gets covered in overspray - even the window and the products that are out! I always make sure I move the toothbrushes and towels out though. I've also noticed that unless I firmly close the door, our bedroom also gets covered in it, and I'm just coming round to the fact I've got no choice but to spend the money on an extractor unit sob sob. In your case, you might have to think about your non-spray-tan clients - imagine doing a couple of spray tans, then your next client comes in for a facial; without an extractor she just might be covered in overspray too! xx

What machine have you got? A good machine with a flow adjustment screw (thats used effectively!) shouldnt leave any mess, I get next to none.....xx

I was wondering what machine you are getting. Just make sure you have it adjusted correctly to minimise the overspray.

You could look at extractors from companies other than spray tan companies, they are sometimes cheaper. I have this one:-

Prem-I-Air HM-681 - Air Cleaner Twin Motors, Scented Cartridge, Air Purifiers, Air Purifiers

When I started tanning I used a carpeted bedroom, now what I am going to say, might sound like a faff but it worked ok to get me started -

A lot of equipment is on weels so I just wheeled it out of the room before the client arrived. Then anything else, I stuck under the couch and threw a dust sheet over it. It sounds like a faff but it didn't take long. I also threw a dust sheet over the carpet. (Glamorous!)

It worked to get me started. Before long I replaced the carpet with a laminated floor, which helped a lot. Then I moved house

Good luck! Improvisation is the key!

Tonilee, I have a Pig machine. Apart from using the dial, there doesn't seem to be much adjustment to the flow of the spray that I can make, does that make sense? Sorry, I've got no knowledge of other machines so don't know the difference. I definitely get lots of overspray - the husband sprayed me last weekend and I had to do lots of wiping/cleaning the following day. What do you think? Any advice gratefully received as I'm concerned I'm not doing somthing I ought to be doing! Thanks xx

hi

i've got the shadez spray gun, it looks like a pig. it seems to look exactly like the one fake bake sell but half the price just differnt logos. i've not yet had a chance to test it but looking forward to it

thats a good plan zozo. as i'm just going to be tanning and probably waxing to start i wont have much things to wheel out until i start introducing more treatments

also another thing i was thinking. i'm thinking of doing tanning parties either at my house (live in a small island so everyone is a few mins drive away) or at theirs but i'm not wanting to do it at other peoples houses if there is a chance i could leave their room covered in a layer of spray

but i know some people would like it in their own home. my friend does parties and doesn't seem to have a problem so maybe i'm worrying to much

I have now got a small home made extractor fan that does help and I have a new gun that I can adjust more. I think my problem is that I think I need more spray than I actually do need if you know what I mean.
I am going to experiment more on my sisters....:green:

One thing I have bought are plastic table covers from Asda that you would use for parties just plain ones though and they cover the floor a lot so a couple of those on the floor and over items help a lot when you are getting a bit of overspray.

the are only about a quid so worth while....

hth...
