We are thinking of trading in the old placky set this year for a smart new model :lick:

Quite fancy these cast iron/cast aluminium table sets but can anyone tell me, are they coated with anything to stop heat build up? I know it's not REALLY hot very often in this country but when it is, does the furniture get really hot?

Sorry, so random :o

They do get hot but surely you could get chair pads for them in summer time or just any cushion :) I have painted metal ones and they never get so hot you can't sit on them (but I know what you mean, the ones abroad are a killer when you forget it's red hot!) x

Weve had alsorts of garden furniture the metal rusts the wooden goes mouldy and needs lots of looking after weve always gone back to the good old plastic! Can just leave it out in any weather and you dont have to fight with the covers in the wind!

We brought our ones already painted and they haven't rusted and we've had them years now and they've been left outside constantly.. Maybe the painted ones last a bit longer? xx

We have cast aluminium, never rust, don't get too hot, much cheaper than wrought iron xx

We bought a cast iron set with a glass table top, it's meant for a dining room, but I covered the seats with cream leatherette and they stay out all weathers. The backs dont get that hot, the main thing is the weight xoxo

I have a antique cast iron set which I hand painted to brighten up and they stay practically cold even in the sun :). I painted them 5 years ago or more and not a spot of rust on them either :)

Yes the ones we've been looking at come with cushions, I was just think about the table/chair arms etc

Good to hear you've all found they've lasted well tho, thank you for your responses
