I am currently looking into getting a microdermabrasion unit but am unsure which one to go with. I have various companies coming out to give me demonstrations over the up coming weeks but would appreciate advice from those of you who already use or have previously used them.

I am quite tempted by Crystal Clear as they also provide press packs, training in the systems & products, salon brochures with treatment details, ongoing referrals, marketing details, training manuals etc. Their products look goo also.

Two of the other local salons use Caci, so I was thinking to use something different. I know that Caci is very popular though and well known with clients.

Is it more beneficial to the business to use a more well known expensive brand than a cheaper more affordable one?

Microdermabrasion is microdermabrasion...the crystals the different companies use will all give you the same outcome if you've been properly trained....
You clients might ask if you do microdermabrasion, and use a well known brand name, because they've heard the name...but think about that for a second. Why have they heard the name? Because larger companies spend more of YOUR money on high profile advertising, rather than researching the product and the method.
In my opinion, it's better to ask a lot of questions, and go with your gut feeling. Spending more money doesn't always guarantee you a good result, and the more 'hi-teh' a machine is, the more there is to go wrong with it in my opinion. PM me if you'd like my recommendation...
Microdermabrasion is definitely something worth offering though, I love the results of it, and there's nothing quite like it. Especially if you want to help clients who have problems like stretch marks and acne scarring. It's a brilliant treatment.

Hope you don't mind me adding to.....
Do you know of any machines which are good for mobile use too?

I use a skinbase micro machine which is fab and comes in it own case which turns into a trolly idea for mobile.

Try skin focal/Novita They do a mobile machine and the companys brilliant. I used there machines but couldnt justify the finance in the end because I live in a backwards town but she allowed me to loan the machine to see what client response was like. I used to sell diamond microdermabrasion machines which were brilliant too but they went bankrupt.

All machines really use the same wands/crystals, but its worth checking the following with the company before you buy:

Are the wand heads disposable?
Can you use crystals as well as diamond tipped wands?
Are all the components out side of the machine to prevent blockages?
How quiet is the machine?
Is the machine adjustable for crystal quantity/suction etc?
If the machine breaks down will they lend you a replacement until yours is fixed?
How often do you need to change the tubes/filters?
How many facials can you get out of a bottle of crystals?

Hope this helps!

Hello,
I am quite new to this site and am realy enjoying it.
There is a new machine which is just being launched in the UK called Sapphire - it offers exfoliation with both a diamond tip and crystals. I am having a demonstration next week - will let you know what it's like. It is quite reasonably priced. Let me know if you would like any more info.

Hi Annied,
Can I ask how much is the cost of this machine?
Thanks x

Hi Anca
The full price is £4,950.00 + vat, i have been offered the unit for £3,950.00 + vat as a launch offer.

Hi,
I am also looking into getting a microdermabrasion machine for my small salon. Skin Base are running an offer where they lend you a machine for 2 weeks then you decide whether to go ahead.
The cost is the only thing that concerns me. Have others found the increase in business justifies the financial outlay.
All thoughts appreciated.
Amanda

hi there,

i have the skin base machine, its brilliant, i did a promotion with £10.00 off your 1st = £23.00 normally £33.00 treatment. I am a small room in a hairdressers, i did 96 treatments in 6 weeks, 1/2 hour per treatment.. I made my money back within 6 weeks.
i have people who are addicted to the treatment.
Hope that helps

Cheers
Natasha

I must admit i have been an aerial Salon Geeker who reads threads and advice for some time. I've never replied until now mainly due to my inability to master computers. But on this occasion i have to say a big thank you to these posts. I too own a salon and have been looking at microdermabrasion for a while. I've had all sots of people and companies out and to be honest no one has ever really impressed me. They all talk about magazines and what the stars are having but to be honest most of my clients want resutls. I called skin focal who came out and my goodness it was a breath of fresh air. Their knowledage was amazing and the demo was fantastic, its unusual for me to buy there and then but i did and we have just completed our training which was hard going but very impressive. In two days we have learnt so much, we are excited and we have 14 treatments already booked in! The nice thing too we can now go on to do other things like chemical peels and we also have their mineral make up range which we now apply after all facals and waxing. The excitement in my salon has gone through the roof and we have a big buzz again. I really dont think out of any of the companies who came to visit me they could of reach any where near these guys. For the first time a company who is supporting us without making us feel we are annoying them! What a real breath of fresh air. So thank you for your comments as beacuse of you we found skin focal. :)

Corrines lovely isnt she. Defo one of the few companies that sell because they believe in the machine - not to endorse celebrities - I hate that kind of thing, but unfortunetly the jo public thrive off it. I much prefer to sell results and Novita are defo that.

Good luck with your new treatment. xx

I only met corrin for the first time when training, she came to us and yes her manner and knowledge was amazing. I have to say you can tell when people are passionate as the staff at the company are very good to. I have done 2 treatments today and loved using my new found knowledge and equipment. My clients where super happy. I had spoken to one of their existing novita users who was a nurse and even she said that her understanding of skin was taken to a new level. The skin care is amazing too, i was always into the big brand names but i have to honest my eyes have been opened wide, we (me & the girls) where just chatting over a cuppa saying we can't wait to do the chemical peel training. I'm hoping now that i can give back to people using salon geek as its done me a huge favour as i would have never had found skin focal if it i hadn't have read the comments.

I already use another machine but it sounds so good with the service you got I've contacted them too! Thank you :)

Hey huni,
there is lots of companies out there but the best has to be Diamond.
they are reliable and have the celebrity status worldwide. the offical sponsors of the oscars, golden globes and grammys. I have just received their new marketing, put it up the other day and booked in 14 clients for microd courses.
Plus they come back every month for maintnence. Honestly wouldnt touch anyone else.
I bought their IPL in January and love it!! www.diamondincorpoated.com

Hi I saw your post re the Diamond Machines. Can I ask which one you would recommend as I am wanting to invest in a good Microdermabrasion machine.

If your looking to make a big investment then a visit to Pro Beauty at the end of Feb will be well worth it.

Personally I like the Skin4Life and Carlton machines.

Hi everyone,
I have been looking for a really good, decently priced mobile diamond microdermabrasion machine for ages and have been looking at all the posts on here for advice. Have worked in lots of salons and tried loads of different manufacturers and crystal and diamond versions.
There is one which sounded too cheap to be any good but I tried it and it is fantastic!
The machine and training (which I didnt need to do as already experienced) is 595 pounds! This was a special offer but it may still be available as I only got it last month. Its already paid for itself so all profit from now, yeh!!
If anyone is interested let me know and i'll pass on the details of where I got it from:)

I have Crystal Clear coming to demo on Friday, but the price seems huge for what I'm not sure!!! Maybe coz I'm an old style beauty therapist the price just seems ridiculous....

Sweepygirl what machine do you use, and why is there such a massive difference in price?

Sarah
