Hi ive heard that millia can be caused by eating to much diary products and calcium but someone also said that it can be to high chloestral levels which is what causes the fatty disposits to appear under the skin. I wanted to know if they we're both right and what your intake is on the causes of millia apart from cosmetics causing them?
I don't perform microlancing on millias in the salon as my insurance doesnt cover me and i feel with the use of a needle i need to be trained for this but i do recommend exfoliation and the facial massage in the treatment.
Some clients say that they notice them more other times than on a frequent basis so i thinking this may be linked to something their eating, which is making it appear only ocasionally.
I just wanted to pass on the correct information to my clients with your help thankyou

I would say neither. I have found them to be caused by using too rich a moisturiser and not exfoliating. Sorry not much help as you already knew that! As they don't just disappear on their own they will notice them more as they multiply! You can also get them from excessive sun exposure as the skin thickens and traps the oil and skin cells as exfoliation slows.

Xanthelasma are the raised fatty lump plaques you can get around the eyes and these are caused by cholesterol but not milia. Milia are hard lumps.

I dont think it is either of those too.

My beauty therapy book states the following:

Keratinisation of the skin over the hair follicle occurs, causing sebum to accumulate in the hair folicle resulting in miia. This condition usually accompanies dry skin.

Although saying that my husband gets milia and his skin is quite oily but does get very dehydrated.

thats quite interesting because i thought either one of them could be cause of it and i hadnt heard of the other word you mentioned but ill defintely look it up i just assumed the white lumps under the skin were millia thankyou girlsx
