I am absolutely seething, hopping mad. I have just read a thread on beautytech about Minx teaming up with OPI. They are informing techs here in the US that they will be making nail OPI Chic Prints available to general public and are applied with friction. Supposed to last 2 - 3 days. I am so annoyed, have spent hundreds on their product and feel really cheated now. Who is going to spend the kind of money on my minx that I would need to make it viable if they can the cheap version in their local drugstore?

Surely the minx salon treatment will/is different to a transfer type minx that lasts but a few days?
Plenty of brands have a professional use line and a retail / home use line ,
It sounds from your discription like two totally different products , and who knows the retail price might be a lot for something that will only last a few days but it might be enough that people then come to the salon for the salon minx that lasts way longer than a few days?
relax hun :)

I haven't thought of it that way. So maybe it will be a blessing in disguise? I really hope so. Thanks I feel a little better now.

I have seen this also,
But I am not too worried to be honest, Things like this will always happen, I remember the avon and nailene 'minx' type things before minx... Similar, but yet not the same iykwim,
I imagine this will be the same senario,
And then also, some people just can't be bothered doing things themselves and would still quite happily pay someone else to do it.

I can do nails on myself, but the last few times I have seriously considered finding myself a nail technician because I just havent got time anymore ( as we know it can take longer to do your own) then I'm never happy with them etc.... I would just Love to sit and pay someone else to do them for me these days.

So I don't think it will take our clients away at all... Maybe will just make minx more recognised and more of a household name, which is a good thing,
I still have maaaaannnyyyy people who haven't a clue what they are.:|

There are a couple of brands here that sell Minx type veneers in chemists and in a leading Supermarket-(has since discontinued selling them). They dont sell well at all, customers cannot do it!
The technique ,while simple to apply for us,is too difficult for most non nail people.
Look at how many questions on here there are from nail pros asking about application:D
And these Minx you are talking about are applied with friction-ha ha ha.
I wouldnt worry about it if i were you.

from what i gather minx have said that they wont be as good quality as the professional minx that is only available in salons.

my concern is whether they will have the minx name on them.

if they do and the quality of the product isnt as good then the public may not realise that the professional only product is superior and will think that they are the same lower quality product as they can purchase themselves.

perhaps they have thought of that and kept them anonymous.

They have thought of it of course, and would not do anything to undermine the reputation of Minx.

I have seen the letter from the company and it is quite clear that the new thing is a bit of a gimmick that is in no way competing with Minx and for an entirely different sector of the market NOT the professional market ... it is different and really a lowly cousin just like stick ons are the lowly cousin of enhancements.

This move is purely to help the parent company Minx to generate the revenue to continue to make MINX veneers even better .. new designs and larger production. It's frankly a smart move and will in the end benefit we the Minx users.

They sound kind of like nail foils to me???? They are friction applied ( with the adhesive ) and don't compare to Minx in any way, shape or form :)

"Thats it nail art" is like that.

Minx is in and out of stock frequently due to the fantastic sales to nail technicians. Summer is here and sales are hot and fast and furious. S2 get deliveries every week. Maybe you should have a better ordering system so you are not out of stock.

You are making allot of incorrect assumptions with this post as well as it being completely off topic of this thread.

Back to topic ...

The OPI chic prints will initially only be sold in 8 designs ... hardly worth anyone worrying about in terms of their Minx Business and not the same product at all.
