Hiya,

Just wondering which has been more popular for toes this summer with all you techs out there. Minx or the Glitter Gel toes.

I love the glitter toes and so do a lot of my clients. I also offer Minx toes for the same price, but just don't seem to get the same responce despite all the efforts to premote it by wearing it myself, my daughter & sister wearing it, advertising it etc etc.

Could it be that it is more popular in certain areas (i.e big city areas), I know that is a silly question, or do you think that maybe some people are a little wary of it as it's a newish product?.

I look forward to you opionions

Sally

Hi MollyLolly - very interesting post. My first reaction really is that you simply can't compare the two. Minx is not liquid & powder / gel, it's a look that can be completed quickly, with little fuss and removed quickly, with even less fuss. Whether it be sparkle toes created with L+P or Gel... it should be more money and will more likely take much longer to do and remove than Minx.

You have to know the selling points of Minx v an enhancment coating and then it's really up to the customer to decide. I think you are right on peoples likes and dislikes in certain areas... but I can tell you that city or rural, village or town... Minx is a hands down hit for nearly every salon / mobile I have spoken to, and the reason is - they're fast, they're profitable and they last.

Customers are returning from 2 weeks vacation with their toes looking perfect... no doubt this is the case for permanent glitter toes... but when the look gets boring, it's a hassle to remove where as with Minx it's a cinch.

I don't know if this has helped at all... but remember the main pluses to tell YOUR customer and only wear the most popular looks to entice them - Silver and Gold!

If it's any help... I experienced my first Minxing today (as a client), and so did my wife Sonia (who is disabled). Sonia also has experience of L&P enhancements after modelling for a nail competition at Excel last year.

What clinched it hands down for us (and especially Sonia) was the speed and ease of the Minx application, as opposed to L&P. Quick, easy, and a fab looking result! Whereas getting the L&P nails done was a rather arduous experience for Sonia (taking 2 and a half hours in all), the Minx was done in not much over half an hour, and caused her a lot less discomfort too.

So - I'd recommend that you focus on the speed and ease of the treatment from a client's point of view - that they can have great looking nails with a lot less time and hassle than traditional enhancements. And given the speed of Minx, another thing you might consider is advertising "Minx parties", where a group of ladies could book you to all get Minx nails done at the same time. As you could quite feasibly Minx at least 4 or 5 sets of nails in a 3-hour party, say...

Minx is definately the winner in our salon. Clients cant believe how long its lasting and are coming in to have it removed because they`re desparate for the next design
