Hi geeks
I just wondered if anyone could tell me about a foot cream I remember seeing at Professional Beauty in London last year. I'm sure I've seen this particular company elsewhere too but can't remember the name. Basically the cream removes very hard skin and I'm sure it was about £30. It looked as though it made the skin on your heel in particular look fab. The stand had lots of chairs round it and you could have a taster on your own feet, but I couldn't get near it because it was chockers. Does anyone know this cream and if so is it really that good? I know of a few people who would benefit from it but am scepticle and don't want to throw my money around.

I think it might be called callus peel.
www.beauty-select.co.uk sells it at £35 for a kit. It says it does up to 10 treatments.
It might be a bit more expensive now as I am looking at the leaflet I got from the beauty show last year

Hmmm tbh this is what we use in our salon and it's certainly no better than any other foot creams I have used.A lot of hype about nothing if you ask me,the other therapists in the salon and our clients.

Was a little disappointed to say the least as I actually recommended this to the owner as I had read such great things about it.When we purchased the kit it was no better than our good old OPI foot file,in fact the OPI foot file was by far more superior.

I am sure there will be some that find it good but calling it a 'miracle cream',is a tad exaggerating to say the least.

Thanks Angie and Babs. Yes I'm sure this is the right product, but its interesting to hear the mixed reviews, although as I said I was scepticle about it. Will still have a good look though.

Hello

I too bought callus peel from their stand at manchester a couple of years ago and I too have to say that IMO it does not live up to the hype. Its expensive for what it is and I have had the same results and better with a good old fashioned pedicure with foot file etc. . . . .

Hope this helps x

Hi,
I was only thinking about this product last week as I was looking at all my pedicure products and thinking if there was anything that could improve my treatment. I'd heard about Callus Peel but when I googled it some reviews came up and there were people say it was fantastic but you had to be ultra careful, not get it on anywhere other than really hard skin areas and only leave it on for a max of 5 mins as there were people that had been injured with burns and left with open, weeping sores where it had been used incorrectly or accidently wiped on an soft skin area. Must admit, it scared me off a bit but hearing this thread, its hard to believe that now!!!!

Welcome, why not ask them to send you a sample

Heatherp,I didn't find it to be overly strong at all,it does advise therapists to wear gloves and avoid softer skin .I suppose you could and would get a reaction if applying the product to open cuts and abrasions,I never applied to any soft tissues so didn't have a problem with burns etc.

We've had great results with callus peel in our salon. As long as there are no areas of broken skin there's no problem applying the product at all, I've left it on for 20 mins or so before. It's great on that horrible hard build-up of skin around the heel, I used to tell clients who had skin that bad to go to a chiropodist and have it scalpelled off, now they come to us instead.

Hi Wendy
The Callus Peel is excellent despite what some people are saying! The pack comes with 10 sachets - each sachet has two pads in (like wet wipes) which contain the remover. Place onto the heel or sole and cover with clingfilm and leave for 15 mins. Remove clingfilm, scrape off with the scraper then buff with the buffer. It does exactly what it says on the box! The kit comes with everything you need for 10 treatments. I used to charge £18 for this treatment alone, which takes no longer than 30 mins. You can prep the nails, while waiting the 15 mins., ready for applying polish and charge an extra £7 for that. You should wear disposable gloves. It is common sense not to apply to any broken or bleeding skin. Buffing alone may remove a small amount of callus but it comes back much quicker and doesn't get rid of it in one treatment. Everything in the kit can be purchased separately through Beauty Select. You tend to run out of sachets and foot file replacements as the cream lasts for ages. Beauty Select (who supply the kits) have moved premises now and have a new telephone number 01942 815164.

I've been using it for 2 years with excellent results. I guess I do about 10 a month and I've not yet had any weeping sores or disappointments. You can't just use the cream on its own; it's purely a finishing cream. The active component is the AHA soaked patch.
I tend to leave it on for at least 15 minutes whilst I'm doing the nail prep (assuming I'm doing it as part of a ped).
I exercise discretion and caution when it comes to diabetics or post-chemo clients as they don't heal as well.
