Mix gel and acrylic?

Hi all

I had a client come in for a full set removal and as I was doing so I realized she had two different colored products on and she mentioned that her previous nail lady filled her acrylic nails with gel??? (To clarify, the client got acrylic nails, went back for a fill a couple weeks later and the same nail tech did a fill with gel products)

Is that a thing?? I have never seen or heard of it done before.

Yea you can do this. You can also do hybrid nails which is a base of acrylic with gel on top.
My understanding is you can’t put acrylic over gel as the gel is more flexible therefore the acrylic will crack
