I'm just finishing up school and I trained using mostly NSI products, though I'm planning on getting certified with CND. And since I'm not actually working yet I would like to use up the rest of my NSI products when practicing without purchasing anymore of it. I want to practice making some glitter tips using CND gel and glitter on top of NSI acrylics. I wanted to find out if anybody had problems mixing CND gels with NSI acrylics (like discoloration). I know I'm not suppose to mix product lines, but I want to save as much money as possible for now. thank you =)

Most all product lines can be layered over each other although the result will not be as good as if you used everything from the same brand, it will not be disastrous either ... doing this is not really mixing them as if you actually mixed one brand of monomer with another brand of polymer; that is what is meant by mixing and it is definitely something you should not do.

But we have to be practical and there is no problem with what you want to do until you can be completely branded with the CND line.

You can, but you must advise clients that the colour might differ and I would not guarantee my work over that of another technician. If they have problems, it could be due to something the other tech did or didn't do ... and you could not possibly know, so no guarantees. As long as everyone is aware and agrees on that basis, then you can go ahead.

Just out of curiousity, why are you switching?

Great thread chic, I'm the same as you, currently using NSI but rebranding to CND.

Can't wait to start using my Brisa gel on top of my NSI L&P, what a great idea:lol:

Well it seems like CND is so popular that even customers know it's a good line. Which they do have some beautiful stuff. It seems like alot of the nice salon's in my area use it so being certified in it might give me a little bit of an advantage. But I have considered the fact that using a good product that isn't as popular might help bring some people in too just because it's something different that they can't get everywhere. So I havn't completely decided. At school all of the demo's were done by a CND rep (like the spa pedicure/manicure and acrylics) and the girl's skin turned out so soft and the product scents were amazing!
My problem is I'm new to the area and have very few people to work on and get my name out, so clients are a big issue for me (as most people I suppose). So my latest thought is I'm going to keep practicing until I get my skill perfected and my speed down, and find out where I really want to work. That will help me figure out a line to go with, (some spa's use their own line anyways). :)
