Mixing Shellac for nail art only

Can I mix shellac colours for nail art, for instance if I didn’t have the right shade of green, if I mixed Two colours just to draw on little leaves or make a certain brown for small branches. I know it says not to mix them but it’s not like it’s going over the whole nail but on top of two colour coats?
