Hi Guys

I had a potential client and a very sorry story that involved a flickering lamp and my chair breaking, but I got over it and have moved forward. The client did not rebook !!!!

I saw the client again the weekend before last and she admired my nails and my neices both of which I had done and asked me if I would do her nails for her this week on Thursday. I jumped at the chance and was feeling very pleased.

This week I saw her again on Saturday and she had been out to the local chop shop and had her nails done ! Know she did not tell me, I spotted it !!!! and then went on to tell me that the only reason she had them done was to encourage a friend to get theirs done, no apologies nothing, she then announces that its ok I can maintain them for her as they cost £28 and shes not paying that again !!!! Oh and I can also come and do her feet for her instead on Thursday. (Its over an hours drive)

I really don't know what I am more annoyed about the fact that she took someone who had never had their nails done before to such a place, even though I had had lengthy conversations with her about why not to go to those places

or the fact that basically I think she has treated me in a very high handed manner

or the fact that I'm not certain if I can maintain with my gel or even if I should

Whats really making me cross is the poor newbie to nails who now thinks thats its perfectly normal to have her fingers hurting so badly she was nearly crying. I have offered to soak them off for her !!!!

I have only just qualified myself so I would appreciate your comments and suggestions

I think you have to learn not to take things so personally!
You are starting to run a business and a business needs clients.
You can talk until you are blue in the face, but people will do what their fancy tells them regardless.
Most folks think techs are just bashing discount salons because WE want THEIR business.
Whether you like it or not .. we have to take a bit of 'high handedness' in our business form all sorts of women. As long as I get their business then I don't really care.
Nor should you waste your time worrying about damage caused to other people's nails by other technicians. Worry instead about your own business.
If it will pay you to go and do her nails or feet then do it. If it won't then don't.
