Hi

Up until recently I only offered my beauty services to people i knew but i thought to increase my client base i thought i would advertise as a mobile beautician.

today i got a call from a man asking if i massage men, normally i wouldnt mind, i done it in college. as i was a bit weary i said i will only do back massage and he said no im driver staying down here for a week and i want a massage. he asked how much i charged then i found out he wasnt in my town so to get rid of him i said i wouldnt travel out of my town.he said he would pay me to travel to him and he was staying in a hotel.
to top it off he asked if i could do it at night time and i said no so he said ok let me know when you can come in the day.

eventually i got him off phone saying i was out and did not know when i could do it.

what worrys me now is that as a mobile beautician and advertsing my number publically am i going to start getting weird phonecalls and opening myself up to who knows what.
i dont think he wanted the type of massage that i know to do either.

i dont know if i am just paranoid but has anyone else come across these sort of phonecalls.

its made me a bit weary now.

thanks

tina

hiya...

i'm just setting up as mobile and i havnt had a problem like that (yet!!!) lol... but Ive just bought a cheap mobile on PAYG for a business phone so im not plastering my personal number all over town. Won't stop the weirdos but puts my mind at rest i guess

Hi, i was working as a mobile therapist and i did get the odd wierdo calling sometimes, and when i first started i did go and do a massage on a man who didnt want to wear underwear and kept moving the towel - gross! i didnt mind massaging men that i new, like another customers husband or friend. but i would never go to a hotel to massage a man i dont no it´s just not worth the risk. It really anoys me when some men try and take advantage and make us feel uncomfortable.
I ended up just telling them that I was working in a salon 2 days a week and didnt do massage mobile so if they wanted a massage they would have 2 go there.
Even if you need the money it´s not worth it unless you no who they are.

That sounds like a really seedy phone call! Not the sort of business you're after, I'm sure! I'd have been inclined to tell him never to call again, and if he does, then you'll report him to the police.

Hi Tina!
Yes I have had strange calls in my time...! But im in a salon & they have all been males & you can normally tell if they are weirdos by how they ask you things ...! Don't worry to much about it just be on your guard & get rid of them as professional as you can, if they go to far just put the phone down, there is no point explaining your-self to them, hopefully you should not get to many!

hi
thanks for your re assurance, from now on i'm not going to do men unless their a friend of a friend.
ive also taken your advice, ive got an old mobile phone line that i was waiting for the tariff to expire but instead im going to keep it and use it as my business line, wish i would have thought of that sooner.
thanks gals !

Out of interest what did your advert that he was replying to say?/where was it posted? was there anything that could have been miss read in it? or do you think he was just trying his luck ?

Any calls that I have had from men have ALWAYS been wierdos! Fortunately, they have been far and few between.

The best laugh I had was when I had a message left on my voicemail from a bloke asking for a BRAZILLIAN!!! The mind boggles! :Scared:

If you get a bad vibe, don't do it. I think that you are wise to only do known male clients or friends of clients. Unfortunately it's just not worth taking the chance.

What's so funny about that though? Lots of people offer male intimate waxing, which is often described as a Brazilian (or even a Boyzilian)! It's a very popular (and lucrative) treatment.

i offfer all male treatments and couples pamper, im carfull as to i meet them and do consultation 1st and any funny feelings i dont do treatments. i work from home in my beauty room and mobile . so any new male client, i ask the neighbour lol to keep ear out and i text her when im done... but my male clients are great xx ask them if you can bring an trainee with you , that normally sifts the rougues out lol x saying that !!! my friend in a salon had a bloke come for a cousultation.. boyzillion , he was in his 60s he stood dropped his trousers and undies and said! so what do u think !!! she said. ah that wont take me long " he didnt come back and since heard he has done it in a few salons ???????

all adverts that i have placed say mobile beautician, beauty in the comfort of your own home! so theres no way that can be mistaken!

I have heard about Gumtree having a particular "reputation" for attracting such people though...

awwww gawd don't get me started!!!! 17 years in the biz, think I've heard every request under the sun.

I had my home number in yellow pages under BABY MASSAGE - I had a dozen unsavoury phone calls about that....can I go to the hotel room to do a baby massage.....can they sit on my knee.........will i feed them........!!!

I had my ad on some site years ago, and every weekend between 12-3am I would get phone calls asking if I would go to their hotel room. In the end we pulled the phone out of the socket every weekend for about 6 weeks.

Now I'm in premises the reception staff deal with it and its declined.

But, I still get the odd call on my mobile. the conversation goes like this:

"Hi, do you do massage?"
"Yes"
"What type of massage do you do?"
NOW AT THIS EARLY STAGE I ALREADY KNOW BY THAT QUESTION IT IS GOING TO BE A WASTE OF TIME/SAVOURY. BUT I CONTINUE AND GIVE THEM THE BENEFIT OF THE DOUBT.
"Well I do swedish, aromatherapy, Indian head massage, Indonesian, deep tissue and trigger point, Tibetan head massage, Thai seated massage, bamboo massage".
"..........um, and what else?"
"Oh well, I do facials, reflexology, reiki, crystal therapy, hopi ear candles...."
"Um.....what else do you do?"
"I use Gerard's products so you could book a body treatment or a face treatment".
"Oh, so back to the massage. What else do you do"
"Told you".
"Ah, um, right. Well I'm a certified naturist, so, um I don't want to wear any towels".
"I always use towels".
"Yes, well I'm a naturist"
"well I'm a qualified therapist who uses towels...."
"Um, so, would you come to my hotel room"
"drrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr"

oh another question to look out for

"have you got a shower?"

The best laugh I had was when I had a message left on my voicemail from a bloke asking for a BRAZILLIAN!!! The mind boggles! :Scared:

and that's precisely why my phone is Red Hot! Sure I do get the odd odd call - but if therpaists won't take customer's seriously - or worse - mock them in public, then I'm bloomin glad to be here to provide the professional service they seek.

Attention all male waxing customers: give me a call - I'd be more than happy to help you achieve hair free skin.

Oh, and I love it when customers ask if they can shower - especially if they've been at work all day. :)

Jason.

Hee hee sounds like I have ALOT to look forward to lol

:D
