I am looking to set up my own buisness and was wondering if anyone had any tips on insurance or anything?

Salon gold do a specialist freelancer insurance its about £40 .

just remember that with your insurance you are covered for alot of things,BUT READ THE CONDITIONS CAREFULLY such as when colouring etc it more than likely says that you must provide floor covering.
also another tip when colouring, place a towel or something under your tinting bowls and preparation area incase of spillage.
Also make sure you rid all colour off the client as i have had an instant when the client had no running hot water !!!! and had to remove a colour but cold water doesn't do the trick so the colour ended up staining a pillow case RED!!!
you will find yourselve coming up against alot of interesting things when mobile....this includes the people!!

Do your homework: -

  • Check insurer's hairdressers treatment risk (variations from one insurer to another in respect of their definition of a qualified professional) and limit/s
  • Do you need cover for stock, equipment and money. If yes, these extensions must be bought at the same time you are buying Public Liability/ Treatment cover
  • Check if cover applies to your stock/ kit when left in a car unattended
  • Check jurisdiction of cover, usually restricted to activity/ business in UK

Above all, Good Luck

Don't forget, as you're mobile, to change your car insurance to business use as well;)
