I have just recently trained with ez flow and am I wanting to start my nail business from home. I have a summer house decorated as a nail salon and have been advertising mainly through friends but not really having much response. I am now beginning to think I should have just gone mobile maybe people dont want to come to my house. I would appreciate anyones advice and experiences as i really want to make a go of it but feeling really disheartened at the minute thanks Julie.

Can't you just offer both and maybe a slightly higher price for a mobile visit? Have you got a website with pics of the home salon?

Hi thanks for your reply I think thats what I might do. I dont have a website as I wouldnt know where to start and have been told its very expensive. Do you think putting photos of my room on my advertising might help as I have done it really nice but no one seems to want to come and see.

Have you tried other advertising?????? local magazines,,,,posters,,,,,flyers,,,,,,,leaflet drop,,,,,businesss cards.
Are you wearing the extensions yourself??????
You have to make peole aware where you are.

A website is not as expensive as you think. Obviously there will be more expensive options out there but also some more reasonable options without compromising on quality. I got Ruth Mills on here to design my website. I am extremely happy with it. I have a lot of control over the content. I can change treatments and prices whenever I want and it updates automatically without affecting the design. That was really important to me.

I was going to do a build your own template website. I did a dummy one but it just wasn't for me.

PM me if you want any more details.

I definitely think a website will help there are a lot of geeks who seem to make websites at an affordable rate. If people can look at the home salon and see it is professional they are more likely to be interested. Why not do a search for websites on the site (on the top bar) then send a private message to a geek who says they do them and ask for a price quote.

There you go...see Lee-Ann's post above (we were posting at the same time!)

I started my business at the end of last summer and like you didn't know whether to go mobile or home based. I set up a room in my home and put an advert in our local paper, I then printed out fliers and put one through every door in the village where I stay and the neighbouring village also (a lot of work but good exercise lol), I put on the fliers that I could provide a mobile service if requested, but during the past 6 months I have only been asked for 1 mobile service and this is to a client who is disabled and cannot get to me, all my other clients are more than happy to come to my home, so I have now withdrawn this service (other than to my disabled client). It does take a while to let people know about you and I'm only now starting to get a few new clients and all of those have heard of me via friends, word of mouth is definitely the way to go, but unfortunately this takes time and when you're starting up it can be a bit frustrating, but just hang in there it will all work out for you I'm sure. Good luck x

A website and advertising on all the free ad sites online (just google free advertising) is the way forward. People search online these days to find people I get mos of my new clients from this and word of mouth. My website only costs £3.99 a month. It's fairly basic but it works!!
A friend of mine Xxclairexx on here is a nail tech from her home studio hasn't been doing it that long but is fully booked every week. So just keep plugging away you'll be fine Hun. It just takes time. Good luck. Xx
