Hi everyone, Ive been spray tanning for 3+ years in a salon and was thinking about branching out and offering a mobile service..I have a few doubts and wondered if anyone could advise me on them?...firstly which mobile spraygun system offers the best results, and do i really need to buy an extractor? ive got a pop up tent which i fought with for a couple of hours in the lounge before getting it to pop up correctly and ive mastered that now..lol any tips from all you mobile tanners would be a great help, im going to use celebrity as my brand as its what im used to but any other products recommended would be helpful...thanks gals!:D

the solutions i use are nouva tan and tan truth which are really good to .. i dont have a extractor so see how you get on for a few months and then you can really decide..

the machine i useMaxiMist Plus

Offer includes;
400 Watt Turbine
Standard Gun + 3 cups
Free Spray Tan (3 x 250ml)

Only £165.00
+ £9.95 p&p

its on special offer the now i think cause when i first started it was a bit more expensive, i love this machine and it does the trick :) go to Homepage | Spray Tanning Solutions that machine is on there plus a few others.. seems to be the best price i can find for a good machine anyway :)

aww thanks Nicole, i'll go have a look, i had this horrible thought of spray tanning someone in their home with magnolia walls and turning them a lovely coffee colour, the occasional streak i can remedy, i dont want to offer a decorating after service too! my tanning room in the salon has dark walls so i never really know how much overspray there is? lol thanks again that helps alot! xxx

I wouldn't worry about that too much the tent takes most of it so there shouldn't be anything on the walls :) try keeping a window opened sometimes it can go a bit misty iif you are doing a few. Hope this helps you :) xxxx

Hiya,

I do mobile tanning and altough i have an extractor, i think i have used it maybe 3-4 times in the last couple of years.

I only think you need if you are spraying maybe anymore than about 10-15 people. I have little piglet and I find I keep my gun dial quite low so there isnt a huge amount of overspray and any that there is goes into the tent, not on walls to be honest:D

The products id make sure you have is kisposable gloves for your hands, disposable thongs, hairnets and i carry about a little bottle of solar oil in case they have forgotten to paint their nails (extra little treatment too). I always carry a bottle of spray disinfectant too, just so they see me spray it and wipe the bottom before i lay down the couch roll etc, i think clients like to know they are getting into a clean tent, even though i actually give it a good proper clean at home, just feel it looks professional to them. HTH:D

thanks for the tips murnettie,i have all the extra's couch roll, disposable thongs etc as i tan in a salon already, i use showercaps to cover their hair, it works out alot cheaper for me in the long run.i dont know why ive got so obseesed with the extractor, its probably because i know ID go balistic if someone discoloured my paintwork.lol thanks again,(breathes a big sigh of relief) lol xxx

Some great tips luv this site :)

Something I always carry with me too is oil free make up remover and little bin bags :) xxx

I have been mobile spray tanning for a few years now.

Personally I use an extractor for every tan I do now. Whether I tan 1 person or 10 people. Yes the overspray is caught in the tent but you'll be amazed at how much the extractor works.

I think it's good for the clients, but more Importantly for you too. You don't want to be breathing in the fumes especially if you are doing lots of tans.

Is the extractor very heavy/big to carry when mobile?

I've been mobile since February. I've always used an extractor & really wouldn't be without it, i use a B&Q style basket / trolley for the extractor & a big bag ( sports bag style ) for my gun (HVLP 5008). The tent does catch most of the overspray though. I've recently invested in a clip on light as some of the rooms i've sprayed in are quite poorly lit. As far as grappling with your tent goes, i think Nouvatan have a youtube clip on their FB page. HTH

Always usefull to have a tub of buff wipes with you for those that havent exfoliated properly....will save lots of potential problems for you both
