Where do you store your monimer? I currently keep mine in the boot of my car but as soon as I open the door I can smell it and im concerend this is going to be bad for me long term. Does anyone have any ideas on how to conceal the smell and make it more safe.

Thanks

My monomer is in it's original bottle, stood upsright in my box. I only keep my box in the car when I'm actually working so when I'm done for the day all my kit comes indoors and is kept in a dark cupboard.

Kit should not be stored in the car permanently because of the changes in temperature (v. cold in winter and v. hot in summer) - this can cause your monomer to age and lead to service breakdown. Also, if your car was broken into it's an awful lot of kit to lose and have to replace.

I find most smell comes from waste, so make sure you have a metal bin and empty it regularly. You don't want to conceal the smell you want to deal with it - the smell is there to warn you about vapours from your products.

Hi, I can't keep the product in the house because its gets on my partners chest. So I do need to find some where I can store it saftly.

Do you think having that smell in my car would cause damage.

I do get rid of all my waste but I still end up with the smell lingering.

I'm not sure why you have the smell in your car

I travel with all my products in the boot and really don't smell anything, the only time is when I have been to a client's home and have the nail wipes, couch roll etc that I take home to dispose of. But once it's out the car then that's it smell has gone too. I always bring everything in at night and never smell the monomer in the house. Are you sure your bottle is not leaking slightly?

Hi Kelly, you should not get any smell from your monomer, if in it's original container sealed and put away. I store both my gallon bottle and my smaller one i use for mobile in my garage which i can acces from inside house. I decant into smaller bottle from large,, and can never ever smell a thing in my garage.

Only time there is a smell is when I am working from home and have not use correct extraction, or opened a window lol,,, or emptied my bin,, always always will be from soaked up monomer the smell or from my hands down wipes etc (on a wipe) etc, and not from the actual container.

Thanks for your responses. im gna empty the kit out n wipe everything over to make sure its not seeped out at some point and sii if that helps. Is it ok 2 leave monomer in the car boot or not then with the weather changing temperature.

Thanks.

It's not a good idea to leave it in the car
As Vetty said " Kit should not be stored in the car permanently because of the changes in temperature (v. cold in winter and v. hot in summer) - this can cause your monomer to age and lead to service breakdown."
If you monomer is too hot it will make nails very fast giving you less time to make the nail and if it's too cold it's going to take a long time for them to set and you might also get some crystallizing ! It should be stored at room temp

Hi, well i washed over all the monomer pots and my dappen dish and the smell has settled down a bit so it must have leaked out at some point because the outer bottle smelt so strong. i have managed to find a space to store them so the problem should be solved.

Thanks for the advise. x

for those times you do have to store or transport monomer in a car I would recommend a small chilly bin - (you may not call them this, but the sort of chiller box you take for barbeques)

this will help regulate the temperature and give you a nice safe enclosure
