Hi everyone. This is a sort of plan I have and want to happen in approx 5 years time (probably longer because of Covid 19 literally stopping life). I am a qualified makeup artist (7 years) but stopped practicing almost completely for the past 4 years due to the area where I live (countryside, almost no requests), nail technician, acrylic (2years) and recently (9months) qualified for eyelash extensions. I have a 2 year old daughter too. I want to move to Canada and currently live in England. I have searched for numerous places where to move in Canada and kinda got caught up with Ontario. Now I am stuck, I am interested which parts of Ontario would you guys recommend me considering my job and having a toddler (she’ll be probably 6-7 by the time I actually move) so I need a place where I can find a good school, crime and drug rates as low as it can be...I know, I’m dreaming here a bit
I am currently self employed, have my own lil’ salon at home and plan to get 1-2 more qualifications soon (brows, I really like it) but I have no problem with working in a salon in Canada before I settle and make my own clientele.
Also, do I need any extra documents to be able to work there?! I am originally born in Romania so I know I do need working Visa but I am referring to any license or extras I have to apply for/study?
Once I do decide I want to go and visit the area on my own for a week or two to become familiar, also thought to maybe pay for a ‘specialist’ to show me around, recommend schools, properties to rent etc. Is this a good or a bad idea?!

thank you everyone.

Sounds like a grand plan. :)
However, this is a Beauty forum to discuss stuff specifically related to hair and beauty chat so you’ll get advice on opening a salon but fewer posters likely to have the knowledge and experience you’re after, regarding immigration to Canada.

Have you tried joining any Canadian chat forums?

I did a quick search and found this which might be a good starting point?

Let us know how you get on.
