MUA insurance

Hi everyone, I'm newly qualified. I'm aware that I need insurance, but can I get insurance without having to register my business with HMRC? I don't need to register until I make £1,000 - it could take months.
Also, which insurance companies do you recommend?

Normally your insurer will want evidence of qualification but they're not interested in your tax status.

There are lots of insurance companies that cover MUA’s. The costs will depend on what sort of cover you need, whether just public liability or cover for your kit etc. If you work from home, your current insurer might offer cover for a small additional fee.
