Hi Experts!
I just puchased some of acrylic colour and start to learn some 3d nail art. Found this website is brillant for learning something news  but I just wonder can I use some colour like dark purpe, red, pink and apply on the nails instead of paint them, I mean I should put a colour direct on the nail or should I apply a layer of clear first and colour? And final do I need another clear on top or just puff to shine. Very appreciated for your help, many thanks.

I'm going to assume you've had training, as I understand you can't purchase products in the UK without training with the company first.

You need to "sandwich" color designs in clear. So layer of clear, design, and then another layer of clear to give the nail apex and structure.

Also, please don't just keep filling your designs. You need to file off the color each time to check the health of the nail underneath.

You are incorrect there Jesse.

Unfortunately the majority of nail companies in the UK will sell to anyone and only make a pretense of 'only selling to trained nail technicians'.

At CND we are very strict with our policy to only sell to trained technicians ... VERY strict. We have sent many a secret shopper to other companies who claim to do the same. Our findings are that anyone can buy from 99% of the others without proof that they have had any training at all. Sad state of affairs isn't it?

That is a shame! I just thought e-bay was your biggest enemy over there!
Have to say though, living in a country with licensing, we have the same problems. So many un-licensed techs working, and setting up shop!
Our only line of defense is educated clients!

Many thanks for your help, I NEVER HAVE TRAIN with ACRYLIC COLOUR BEFORE, If I was train why should I post a stupid question for you guys answer. I purchase those acrylic colour from Salonserve website, I did train how to doing nail (L&P, Gel, Silk Wrap a with The Nail Comany) about 3yrs ago. Put more information on your profile like where you trained,
who you trained with,
when you trained and everything else about your education in nails and you will get lots of useful answers,

i do not think the answer you received was unhelpful, Jesse gave you a perfectly clear answer and instruction on how to use coloured polymers,

as for stupid questions there are no stupid questions on here every question deserves and gets an answer,

the only people who do not get a warm welcome and any help are the people that come on here and brag that they have no training and expect us to help them,
and if you look for these posts you will see that the only advise we give these people is to get some professional training,

welcome to the site

Oh, just because my profile have nothing in there then some ppl thinks I'm not trained to do nail...thanks for that. And thanks loubylou for a warm welcome. Like some expert said, could you please where should I go for training acrylic colour? Many thanks for your help.

Welcome Thanh,
I did not mean for this to turn into another "newbies bluffing" thread. I hope I did not cause you offense!

I think EZ flow is the best company to learn design acrylic. But it is an art form. If you understand the basic chemistry of Liquid and Powder, and know how the structure of the finished nail needs to be, then really you can do anything you want!

Would love to see some of your work!!:)

Can anybody guide where can I train myself in EZFlow. Is CND better or EZflow,? Which one has a longer setting time or curing time to allow to sculpture the nail? I beleive early setting acrylic can be difficult to play with in the begining?
thanks

Hi,

Are you referring only to the UK? I heard that in the States CND is sold at most beauty suppliers and can be obtained without a license; also that the CND website there can be accessed by anyone even though there's a "professionals only" login area. Apparently you don't have to even have to enter in your license number; just your personal info and email address and poof! you're in. (I know a few people in the States...)

Are you referring only to the UK?

In this instance I am referring to the UK but all CND suppliers in other countries have the same policy.

CND do not sell direct to the pros in the US but do so through professional beauty supply stores. Although the general public may be able to go into these stores and buy CND RETAIL products such as Solar Oil and Scentsations hand and body lotions and polish etc, it is my understanding that the public are NOT allowed to purchase Professional use only products such as L&P and gels, monomers etc. ... if they are, then it is the beauty supply store that is to blame and not CND. As a pro I would not suppport a beauty supply store that sold pro use only products to my customers.
