i dont wear make-up often (sometimes once a month or less)
but i dont really take care of it as good as i should
i have no routine

i have awful pores on my nose n chin
what should i do/use??

would using a clearasil wash twice a day help?

ps, my diet is probably mostly to blame!

You've got a combination skin type, oily t-zone and dry cheeks.

You need to go to the trade shop and ask them for a cleanser for combination skin, then get a mask fullers earth or magnesium mixed with either water or witch hazel and calamine with almond oil for the dry areas. You then need to tone off, i'd recommend rose water to calm the skin down. Put evening primrose vitamins in your diet this is recommended for bad skin, it makes you glo and look healthier.

I would say don't use clearasil, when I did my beauty therapy course I was told that clearasil had an ingredient in it that causes problems therefore one problem clears up then another occurs so you go out and buy some more and it goes full circle. I would say find a good quality brand to try.

I have been using L'oreal Pure Zone for the last few months and sticking to the routine has really made the difference, I have quite an oily T zone like you but can get dry cheeks, but as long as I use the moisturiser too it's fine. I did try Biore but it really dried my skin out too much.
I switch between using the normal wash and the exfoliating wash as I find that if I don't exfoliate often enough my skin really clogs up, but I try not too use it all the time or I just rub off my tan!
That and evening primrose oil has been the key, I ran out of evening primrose a few days ago and noticed the difference pretty quickly, it's also great if you suffer from hormone related spots like I'd tend to otherwise.

Have to say i recommend Liz Earle products, my skin used to be a nightmare  spots, blackheads, oily patches cheeks so dry they were sore:irked: but since i have been using Liz Earles cleanse & polish and moisturiser for combination skin, my skin has improved a lot and i hardly ever get spots now.:D

i agree liz earles cleanse and polish are brilliant but i also use decleor neroli oil underneath my moisturiser...i have been going through puberty for 18 years or so ...lol
but i have also noticed now my skin has settled down a bit scince i gave up smoking...it is looking better than ever

heya i have ezcema and hav had problems all my life,i tried everything from diet changes to chinese herbs.what you need to do is go see your gp they can recommend or prescribe you with wot you need to sort out your skin.your diet will probably hav a great factor in your skin as lots of sugar makes me flare up like a tomato, aslo stress and nerves cause skin irratation.water can cause flare ups as i have to have baths instead of showers as the water is too harsh for my skin.
a good moisturiser is essential and i have been prescribed doublebase but is a bit greasy at times but i aslo find the dove range is good.
hope this helps xx x x

Nats, bless your heart, who mentioned eczema!!

Buttonmoon I know I keep harping on about it and probably gonna get neg repped soon for advertising, but Nimue do a Youth range which is ideal for your type of skin. Clearasil is very strong product and will end up drying out your skin. TBH a good REGULAR skin care regime will help enormously. Why not have a deep cleanse facial at a salon to get you started and then make sure you keep up your care at home.

Hi ya,

I completely sympathize
icon_smile.gif
, I have tried all sorts of things for my skin and here are some of my findings:

I would highly recommend a professional product by the name of Repechage. It contains no colours or perfumes as any product with perfume or colour added to it can cause irration and pore blockages, particularly any yellow products!

Repechage also contains seaweed which is very healing and hydrative for the skin. However it is expensive and only available through professionals. If not look for products that aren't perfumed or coloured, many have essential oils in them which can be very beneficial to the skin. Also products that are for combination skin help to balance the skin. Evening primrose can be good for balancing the hormones which can also help, vitamin E is another good idea as this will help keep the skin hydrated.

It is very important that you drink plenty of water around 6-8 glasses a day, this is one of the most important things you can do but drink it at room temperature as this helps to flush the waste toxins out of your system and keep you hydrated. If you drink very cold water your body will hold on to waste and fats to keep warm!

Try to eat a balanced diet, not to many sugary, fatty foods or too much alcohol! Red fruits are good as they contain a strong anitoxidant to help rid your body of 'free radicals', (these are what makes an apple go brown and are coming in through the holes in the ozone layer)

A regular facial could help around once a month apart from working on your skin it should also help you to relax. Rest and relaxation are also important as the skin repairs itself at night time. Be carefull in the sun try to use a moisturiser that has a S.P.F. in it.

Exfoliation is important as the surface skin cells are dead and they can make the skin appear very dull, if you slough these off with an exfoliation product the skin will appear fresher. Be very carefull you don't use a harsh product that contains ground kernnel nuts as these have been proven to tear the delicate skin tissue of the epidermis. Products containing bran or oatmeal can easily be found in the high street or you could make your own! Or products that have spherical nylon balls in them are good as they don't tear the skin. If you don't exfoliate you will just be moisturising dead skin cells.

'Boots' have brought out a 'Sanctuary' range that has one of the best exfoliating products I have ever used, it contains essential oils and you can try it without spending a fortune as they do a sachet that costs around £1.00.

I would recommended that you follow a good daily skin care routine such as:

*Cleanse and tone the skin morning and night.
*Moisturise every day
*Exfoilate and a mask around twice a week.

This is a basic routine you could also use specialised products such as eye serums or gels e.t.c.

Remember it's as quick to cleanse, tone and moisturise as it is to wash, rinse and dry!

Oh and if you have the time after all that, remember to have fun as laughing helps to exercise all those facial muscles and releases endorphins that make us feel good!

Good luck!:D

Hi Buttonmoon

I have combination skin like you, and I would say - defo look after it and try to sort your diet out.

I currently use Loreal Clear Zone purifying face wash - very nice and easy to use. Using a cleanser and moisturiser suitable for combination skin will help your skin to be calmer.

Boring I know but try to eat some fruit, veg and drink lots of water each day - really is amazing what it can do for your skin. And some exercise is good too, I currently jog - cheap and effective.

Good luck! xxxx

clearasil is the devil! no no no! i have similar problems with my skin too hon it's a pain i know, are you creative trained? if so try using a little solar oil mixed into your moisteriser on your dry areas. works a treat for me and i tell clients this to boost sales- give it a whirl- let me know how you get on hon xx hth x

Totally agree with this. Drinking lots of water helps as well.

Do what Sass said Buttonmoon, and keep up the regime, works wonders.

clearasil has got something in it called lanolin, this is sheeps sweat.
they put it in cheap products as it is cheap to get hold of

Hi Christine,

I'm sure your don't need a facelift! If you splash your face withcold water after cleansing the pores tighten and toning is essential as tightening the pores is one of it's primary functions.
