I did my first full set of acrylic sculpts last night, whilst my model said she was really pleased I was not as pleased with them myself.

The good points were, they were all on lol, same length and size and my smiles were ok, they were smiling but not perfect :)

But when I was finishing them off and shining them up I noticed that the cuticle areas on some looked abit feathered, hope you know what I mean, I think I am maybe not putting on enough product at the cuticle for fear of a ridge or maybe the product is too wet so here so drying too thin? does that make sense??

Also only on the whites I noticed a few dull spots, I think this is from filing too much in one place? can anymore confirm that please and if I re filed would I be able to rectify this?

Thankyou, Im doing another set on Thursday. I was so nervous last night as I didnt know my model and felt unsure as to what she was expecting, I really hope she was pleased, I am moving away and she did say it was a shame I was moving so hopefully she wasnt just being nice and thought I did a good job..

im not 100 % sure what your description of the cuticle area means, but probably not enough product applied.

the dull spots though are definately where there are dips in the acrylic.
the file is not reaching them because they are below the surface of the rest of the application.

you need to either fill the dips or file the rest of the acrylic down to the same level and then you will get an all over shine.

thanks, im pretty sure now it's my application and im not putting on enough product, think im abit scared to overdo things with the sculpting as i dont want to be filing for hours afterwards. My next model is a friend so i will hopefully be more relaxed with her and do a better set.
