Hi Geeklings!

Here is a french manicure i done for myself yesterday, Id like to know what you all think and please be as honest as you can :green:

I love french it's my fav!

I think you have done a good job but would like to point out a few suggestions that could make it better.

The white tips don't seem to be of the same thickness on all fingers. I don't know if this is just the way your fingers are tilted though.
Also back to the white tip you have put a slight curve in most but your little finger seems to be straight and the finger next to this one is a bit uneven. But bliming heck you've done it on yourself, so it's probably not fair for me to comment as I find it so much easier doing it on other people.Mine would probably turn out one big mess!!

Well done to you!! xxx

Hey Sweetie!

Thanks very much for your comments and compliments :green:
I will take your advice on board and watch out for this when i next do a frenchy xxxx

i agree, the main thing is that you need to make the nails all look the same in length, shape and the whites.its a shame the pic is so blurry as this would help us to give a better critique but thanks for sharing.x

Thank you for sharing!

White polish looks a little thick and smile lines aren't really consistent! Just need a little more practice!
Are you polishing side to center, or one swipe all the way accross? I find polish side to center and side to center, makes it easier to get the "ears" to match! Hope you understand what I mean!!
It's funny how polishing a smile line can be much harder than sculpting it!

Post another pic, after you've tried it again!

I agree they would look better if you can make them smile that little bit more. Try to get them all looking the same. Well done for posting x

Smiles inconsistent ... ears missing on all ... length inconsistent ... polish too thick

If you use a detail brush and some Nail Fresh it is easy to make smiles perfect.

Try try again

Thanks for your comments and advice. I will take that on board.

Jesse - Yes i do side to center then center to side. Its much easier than one swipe.

Geeg - Do i have to use CND nail fresh or is any other brand nail fresh just as good?

xx

There is only one Nail Fresh and there is nothing else like it. It's the ether base that makes it so fantastic. No one else has it.

It's perfectly easy to get 08452106060 .. you do not need to be CND trained to buy NailFresh

Nail Fresh used to be a big part of the CND preparation but it was superseded by ScrubFresh. However Nail Fresh is still a big seller and is used to dip into with a brush to clean up the details of a polish job without smearing the polish or making it sticky. It removes polish form surrounding skin ... cleans up the free margin and is wicked for detailing painted smile lines. I can't imagine life in the nail business without it.

If you don't believe me ... try it and you'll see.

Since I managed to melt my last brush with nailfresh , what kind of brush should I be using? LOL xx

well done for posting your french manicure photo - ditto to the above advice, keep up the hard work

The nailfresh I have comes with its own brush in the lid Marion...could you not use an old nail polish brush?

Thanks, Ang. Mine has a bush in the lid too, but i felt it was a bit long and hard. I used a small nail art brush with an anged head and I really liked that (until by the 4th nail it was beginning to get very short and hairless!). Should I be using a natural hair brush?

Violet Star I think you've done a great job considering it's on your own nails. I'd probably have polish all over my fingers! lol
I agree with the rest of the group about the consistancy. But practice makes perfect:) Look forward to seeing your next attempt!

oh thank god this is what ive been panicking about- i love but dislike doing french im practicing french on myself and my willing (but forced) boyfriend everyday over and over for experience on different nail lengths/ conditions and im getting there but i want it PERFECT and cant afford any more training; as thought id have to be CND trained

thanks geeg

well done, they look good. i have the same problem!

i was looking online the other day and saw a lady painting her own nails with a "frenchy", and she was perfecting the smile line with a brush dipped into nail polish remover. i tried it and they came out fab, but then thought that perhaps im over exposing my nails to the polish remover and never done it again.
ive just read what Geeg had to say about nail fresh, is this the same sort of thing??? xxx
