Hi there everyone!

I am certified nail technician but i am having trouble with my white UV gel application. I am using IBD extreme white gel, i cure under my 34 watt daylight salon lamp for 4 mins just like it says on the pot, even longer sometimes, but when it comes to filing later on the whites are still wet and dents very easily. I have just changed my lamp thinking it was that but it wasn't, i have changed my pot of gel thinking that could be contaminated but it wasn't that. I have tried other brands of gel but i didn't get on with them. I have also changed my bonder but that hasn't worked. I am using The Edge bonder. I always prep the nails first taking off the shine then adding bonder and i don't put the white gel on too thick either. I did my mums nails three weeks ago and they were fine, however when i went to rebalance them yesterday the white gel was wet and seeping through. I overlayed my nails today and 6 of my nails did not cure properly so i put them back in and adjusted the position of the nails yet they still came out soft. Yet 4 of my nails were fine had no problems with them.
The only thing i can think of is that i do the nails in a warm room and that might make the components in the gel go a bit funny and weak. Other than that i don't know what to do.

Can anyone help as this is ruining the finish????

Thanks

are you using over white tips...??

Maybe using the IBD lamp would work better...?

Is extreme a paint on white? Prob way off track but do you add a layer of gel before putting on your white? I'd try doing a thin layer of clear/pink cure and then white on both a buffed surface and a sticky surface and see if either methods make any difference.:o

sometimes you need to turn the hand upside down and cure thru once and then cure thru again in the standard position, the white always takes more time to cure and you must use a clear form or clear tips when using white.

Not trying to tell you how to suck eggs here - but your supposed to use an IBD lamp with IBD products.

I used IBD products a couple of years ago (i initially trained in them) and we were all told that you had to use an IBD lamp with IBD gels - something to do with the reflectors in the lamp (i think??)

I too tried using my daylight curing lamp with IBD gels and ran into no end of problems, under curing, lifting etc..

HTH's?

Em.xx

There is good advise so far but why not phone ibd for help?

You Def need the IBD lamp, I use IBD gels and although the clears etc MAY cure with daylight, the white certainly wont, the lamps arnt too expensive hun, you should get one if you want the system to work correctly and as intended x - less heartache too!!

I think lamp and bulbs too, and give them a call...product may be faulty

i dont use an IBD lamp. I dont have a problem.

I was wondering, are you stirring your gel thoroughly?! you may just be applying the pigment to the nail and not actually the gel? even though i would have thoguht the pigment would sit at the bottom and the gel on top? :S

pardon my ignorance as a new gel geek, but whats the difference between a daylight lamp and a gel lamp .... is it just another name (albeit confusing one) for a gel lamp?

Daylight is the company name of the lamp...so its just a lamp made by The Daylight Company. x

Cool, because I use daylight globes daily as my normal working lamp (sometimes called "craft" globes), they give a much clearer light (look), but don't set gel.

They display colors (true to life), no yellow tinge as a normal lightbulb and give off the necessary heat needed in my immediate area (unlike halogen bulbs).

watch out for the heat with gel, can make it too runny sometimes!! can end up in a bit of a mess!!
i know its probs not blazing hot, but if it does heat up the work area a bit and if its hot outside, it will make a diff!!

and the opposite also .......... when it's cold it can make it very thick too ...... it's coming on winter here (and it's quite cold). Gel is like cement in the morning after a crisp night.

COLD?!?! i honestly didnt think you ever got cold weather!! :(

you gotta get out more

we had the coldest day in April (Sydney) in 25 years just last week.

The kangaroos that hop along the main street have taken to snuggling up with the homeless in local parks and it's left a whole lane of traffic free on the harbour bridge.

At least people are getting to work faster.

The sharks that swim in abundance around the harbour have been found in spa baths 3kms away from the water.

...... TRUE ...........
