i just wanted to show you gets my nail that i broke this morning when i was trying to open a box. as you can imagine i did curse as its very sore,i have never broken a nail this bad before.
i think its going to be a while before i can replace the nail on this one as it revealed my hyponchium and is red raw.

OUCH.........that looks so sore  xx

ouch I can imagine the pain.
hope you wasn't using your nail as a tool!!!!!!!!!!!

YOUCH!!!!!!!! I did that to my thumb last year (just before I went to emma's) and I just sculted a clear tip on it to stop me from touching it on everything (left it a day first) and it helped loads with the pain x

im afraid i wasnt using it as a tool i was trying to open a box within a box so i had my fingers inbetween the two and i couldnt open the inside one so my hand just flew out with my thumb and middle finger nail flying in the air.my middle finger isnt that bad and can be repaired easily but my thumb is very sore.its also been weeping.i wanted to let it dry out but i wasnt sure if i would be able to put another nail on it? as my hyponychium is really raw still so im not sure how i would get a form to stay in place without hurting me? my nails are gel.i cant believe all the gel is still in perfect condition on the rest of my nail considering the force its had on it.x

Ouch!! That looks so sore, poor thing. I would nurse it for a bit. Like you said didn't really effect the rest though so must of done a good job!
Hope it heals quickly x

All I can say is OOOOoooooooh
Hope it feels better soon xx

i dont fancy the ouch of soaking that off either...eekk..what about that pray plaster stuff..like new skin i think is it called..just to stop it nipping like....till the skin repairs itself

LindaC x

Yikes, I bet that hurt!

i would have to file it off as i use a buff of gel and im worried about doing this because i dont want to get dust in the hyponychium as its was weeping earlier.
i hadnt thought of that plaster stuff but i know what your talking about im not sure if it would be enough because when i just slightly touch the hyponychium its very sore still.x

Ow ow OW!
No advice to give you as I'm not an extension geek, except to say - keep it clean and dry. How about some solar oil on it?

Yup, I'd think solar oil would help. It's a little miracle product.

My stomach turned when I saw that... you poor thing.

I'm not an expert as I've not done that to my nail before but I'd be inclined to keep it clean and dry for a few days and give the soreness in it a chance to die down, then see how you feel before doing anything. I agree about buffing the gel off, you don't want to cause any more trauma or get any dust into it.

You never know, if it heals ok, you may be able to tidy up your smile line and sculpt a new zone 1... if it heals ok that is. :)

i was thinking the same thing.i just dont want to anger, lol it anymore by getting dust etc... in it.
im trying not to use my thumb at all as it hurts if i just gently touch the hyponychium,im really gutted as i have not long done my nails and i hate it when ones broken as i just want to fix it.:cry:x

OHH so sore, I don't know if this will help, but you can buy a lotion from the chemist which is like a paint on skin, it helps heal and protects the wound, I had a bottle but can't find it at the mo for the name, but I use it when i get cuts it stings for a split second but even stops bleeding, it may be worth ask the chemist if this may help.hope it gets better soon.x

Was about to say the same thing lol looks very sore. did the same to my own on friday though it wasn't opening a box I just didnt get to the file in time. not quite as bad as yours though hun :(

OOOOWWWW!

That's a nasty break Tracey.

If I was you I get to the chemist and buy the elastoplast 'healing' plasters, just put one on for a day and at least it will keep anything out of the weeping area and may speed up the healing process.
Just as soon as it has dried up, sculpt back zone 1.
Don't try to redo your nail whist there is still a 'route of entry' into your system, ie - open wound/weeping etc.
I see no reason to buff it off if it's not lifted or anything.

Keep your eye on it afterwards, but as soon as you can get it covered.

Bless ya babe:hug:

thanks for the replies.im going to see how it goes tommorrow and decide if im going to cover it.i did it this morning and ive managed not to put anything on it but im worried about when im doing other peoples nails and the dust.
the rest of my nails are long and so i presume that it would be more sensible for me to only re build it short untill its healed, this is also why im wondering if im better off just leaving it.xx

I can feel the throbbing from here that must be so sore hope it gets better soon. Wish I had lovely long nail beds like yours x:hug:x
