Hi Geeks,

I've just come across a 1 day course doing acrylic nails at the Nail and Beauty academy.
It's £95 so quite cheap compared to others I have seen, and is based in Oxsted in Surrey.
I was just wondering whether anyone has heard of these before and if they are good to do training with?
It also says you get a NBA-AN certificate. Is this recognised in salons?
I'd be very grateful for any advice or feedback.

Thanks in advance.

Diane

Sorry Diane, I have never heard of them so can't speak from experience, however, I would be very concerned about spending money on a one-day nail course, there is just so much to learn to be able to offer enhancements as a service and to be able to carry out this service safely!

I worry that you would be throwing your money away - I know many geeks have had this experience before and will share their experiences with you.

Also, if you do a thorough search of the site you will find many, many previous threads on this topic.

Research well before spending a penny:)

Thanks Fiona, are there any courses you would recommend doing?
I work full time in admin at the moment so full time college courses are of no use to me.
I was looking into doing the Essential Nails course, but after reading the threads on here I am in 2 minds as to whether that is the best way to go.
Ideally I would like to do either a home learn course or an evening or weekend course, but there is so much to choose from and so many different opinions, I keep getting confused!
I really want to go into doing nails, but can't afford anything until March so there's plenty of time for me to be getting my research in.
I can't wait until I decide which way to go, I just hope I make the best decision.

Hi, if its called 'The forest nail and beauty' don't do it! I went on the one day course about 18mths. ago and up until joining this site, i never realised how much i DIDN'T know. Its a waste of money.

One day courses are definitely not the way to go hun, you will be throwing your money away. there is so much to learn and you wont learn it all in a day believe me.
As you know I have done the EN courses and they worked for me, but its horses for courses, if you have the time to do a class based course and you feel that would be your best option, then I would say go for that.
Have a look round the systems available to you and their courses, and take it from there hun
