Hiya geeks, I hope Im not being too cheeky here but Id really like to know the costs of setting up a nail bar/salon. I have read through some threads but cant seem to find any for just nail salons? Can you say how much approx it cost you inc stock, lighting, flooring, seating etc and did this include your legal/lease fees? Thanks alot everyone, trying to get a rough figure to know what I need to aim for savings wise etc  xx

bit like asking how long a piece of string is really!
all salons are different sizes and different states of repair.

Best thing is to write a list of everything you need, then look in a trade mag to see how much everything is, you may be able to source second hand equipment.

I had a quote for a small sign the other day if that helps, £300.
Massage couch from £70-250.

Thanx hun, just that some of the posts Ive read on this subject range from 10,000 to 20+!!!! If Im calculating things right the material things such as nail station, flooring etc (without the lease and insurance etc) wouldnt come anywhere near that? Just wondering if Im missing something or like you say they just vary so much! xx

I would go back and read all the posts, have a big notepad next to you and jot down what they have quoted as costs.

Leases are all different prices for different areas.

I went to see a top floor salon in the centre of Durham, it was up two flights of stairs, but it had 4 rooms and a toilet, the rent was £1k but the rates was another £1k on top per month.

It was newly decorated, so just needed massage couches, trolleys, shelves, etc put in, which we already had so it was a matter of putting things in and buying a couple of bits to decorate.

I also saw another place in Durham City, 2nd floor, similar cost, but it needed complete renovation.

Yeah think I will, thanks hippychick. Flippin eck a grand a month!!!! x

There are loads of costs you need to take into consideration, a few being...Rent, business rates, gas, electric, phone line and calls, wages (if employing staff), equipment, furniture, flooring, decorating, products, accountants, music licence, signs, advertising, tea/coffee making, fridge, shelving, uniforms, credit card machines.....the listr goes on and on and it really is how long is a piece of string? You need to price it all up to your area/premises.

Good luck!!! xx

Will do hun, thanx for everyones help xx
