Hi Salon Geeks

I have got an appointment to do a few sets of nails for a wedding in a few weeks, and one of the bridemaids is a nail biter.

I have only ever done one set of nail biter nails and they did not look nice at all, the lady wants them doing in acrylic with the french look.

could some one advise me on the best way to achieve this, last time i use natural tips but you could came could see them under the acrylic as they were that low on the nail bed.

Thanks

i like to sculpt but i was advised an alternative by using a natural tip and using a masque pink to disguise the blended line. if you can custom blend they might look abit more natural on photos

what do you mean by custom blend

its the cnd powders that you can mix to match up a realistic nail bed shade.
i use nsi, and only use the masque pink. i like this product however i did a set for an asain client and the finish was very false. afterwards i wished that i was able to custom blend the masque colour so it looked more natural. but client was happy. for photographs i think any opaque pink shade will look better than an unrealistic length of freeedge.

what product are you using? does it have an opaque powder in the range?

I would look at her hands and nails properly, if she has long nail beds and bites then I would sculpt using L&p but keep them short. If she has really short nail beds I personally would tip the nail and either use pink powder over entire nail and paint french look on, or use white powder but only tiny tip, nothing worse than seeing tiny pink nail beds with big white tips. Or maybe offer a nice polish??

This is great advice, i just searched for threads on this because i had my first biter this week. I tried to sculpt and they are ok, but no where near as nice as i felt i should of got them. I was pretty upset with myself. She loved them but im definately going to get a tip on here when she gets back off her holidays.

HI! Nail bitter here! I know the horror of it!!! Any way my daughter is a bitter as well and she has short nail beds and i have long ( lucky me) P&W look grate oj me tips and all. But my daughter just look bad with the tips so we have to extend the nail bed. If you have to use a tip maybe a clear tip so you can extend it with out the tip line showing to much. Or maybe a little nail are in white of some glittle to help hide the line. I know nailzoo has a grate vid on this very thing and the nail look so real. Good luck! We can be hard nutz to crack!

(I will not bite my nails!)

Hi there, just wanted to say I use NSI too and am able to custom blend easily, if you buy the 'technailcolour kit' you will find lots of different colours in it which you can mix with the pink masque to create a more tailored colour for your clients xx

I had a nail biter last week who was going also going to be a bridesmaid, so she wanted a bit of sparkle. I use CND products and would normally use pure white and irredescent shimmer, but as she was a nail biter, I used clear performance tips and kept them really short (just at the tip of her finger), smile lines in white, then added some silver to shimmer neutral opaque pink for zones 2 and 3 and I was really pleased with the result.
