Hi,
Could someone help me, I am trying to work out what is best for Nail Biters!! I have tried a few things but still feel they don't look that good on the client.

Sculpture? Tip and Overlay? or Pop it?

I have tried using natural tips, then blending them and then using white and pink acrylic to create the french polish.

Is there any special tips I should use? There are so many I was thinking of maybe trying the ones with the huge well. Or if you have any better approaches please let me know.

Thanks in advance for any help xxxx

If you can do sculptured nails(I can't) do this, they look more natural. But I sometime do natural tips and blend then do pink and white powder but a nail geek on here explain to me how to do nail biters with French tips and the end result was really good. Why don't you take a look in to Tracey Louise album I don't think she will mind.

the nail angel website has loads of really helpful videos for nail biters! I love it x

Hiya If you can sculpt I would sculpt, I mainy do scuplt now on everyone they look natural and last longer in my opinion, I do a lady who works in a dentist and has to use the hand sanitiser all the time, for some reason tips didnt last, now I sculpt on her and she hasn't had any problems, if I do someone with really bad bitten nails I always do the reverse method I put a small dab of oil on the skin at the free edge this stops the acrylic sticking to the skin

This site is very good, it has help me with a few things. Just been watching the nail biter sculpture nails, going to give this a try on my nail trainer. I will be doing a 1-2-1 in a couple of weeks and so much want to learn how to do sculpture.

Hi, I have to agree with the comments made, I would always sculpt a nail biter, If however you do choose to use tips file away some of the well so that it is not covering too much of the nail plate as this will cause lifting on a biter.

Also, remember that the chances of their nails keeping well between infills are usually slim so dont get disheartened if the come back with 2 nails left on! I always suggest to clients that bite that they should start of with very short extensions (if any, overlay if poss) and allow them to grow. A bit like a course of treatment x

I would also suggest weekly appointments so you can keep an eye on the nails and keep them looking their best. Nail biters are notorious pickers so if any lifting starts they will pick pick pick and ruin their nails further! Once their nails are growing out nicely and the lifting/picking has calmed down then switch them to weekly appointments.

Hi I ay be sounding thick, but how do you sculpt when there isnt a free edge? I agree that i find sculpt nails are better, but i can only do them if the clienr has a free edge for the form to fit snug under, so if there no free edge how is this possible?

I also thought this, because when I started, I used to practice on a nail biter, the sides of her nails were often down to the cuticle. And I was always taught sculpting using a good amount of nail, so I didnt try it on her.
I used to get disheartened when hers "came off" (bitten and picked)...

I was told to use tips on nail biters in my training but if your good at sculpt you can allign the form to the end of the free edge. But say if they have very badly bitten nails and there is no free edge and its at different lengths your better using a tip.
