Hey All,

Ok well even though i have been doing nails proffesionally now for the past 9 years i have to say Acrylic is my thing.....i'm rusty on Gels but i can do them...anyway i have a UV lamp and understand the whole curing thing...what i'm wanting to know and this is probably the most stupid question but i'm going to ask just the same...Can you use a UV curing lamp to help dry ANY kind of normal paint on nail polish? i keep looking around for an electric nail dryer that blows out air but can't find one. Oh yeh and when i say a UV curing lamp...i mean one that just has the UV lamp but does not blow out any air. Like my one which is just a cheapy. Of course i know the ones that blow out air would work but im talking about straight up UV light-NO AIR/FAN.

Please let me know.

Thanks heaps!:green:

No uv lamp I have ever used helped to dry enamel....if that helps. x

the new OPI Axxium UV lamp has a kind of "ventilateur" so it blows some cold air. which is nice in summer.

Ok, i'm in Australia...does anyone know where i can get an Electric operated nail polish dryer from? I don't want the battery opperated kind. Also i don't have alot of money to spend.:irked:

Air dryers do not work!! If you understand products and enamel in particular you will know that OXYGEN ACTUALLY INHIBITS THE DRYING OF POLISH. So blowing air does not help at all. The only way they can be of help is to keep the client immobilised for 5-10 minutes!!

The best polish dryer there is, is a coat of Solar Oil over each polished nail. OIL cuts the oxygen off the surface and helps polish to dry rapidly ... less chance of scuffing the polish too if the client is wearing oil. It also nourishes the skin at the same time. You also generally make a retail sale as well.

Can't beat all that by using any machine. UV lamps do not dry polish.

I want to know if anyone has used the UV nail dryer and does it really work to completely dry your nails quick?

Lately quite of a few of my new customers have said there hands were placed under one to help their nails dry and one also said she found it hardened the polish!!!! I done it for one of the ladies but didn't think it made a difference, just kept her happy as she said she had it done before!:)

A "UV dryer" is simply a uv lamp with a fan in it.
Nothing more

Geeg already explained to you that fans do NOT help to dry nail polish.
Cuticle oil, like solar oil, is the best thing you can use and/or immersing the clients hands in cold water (which is unpleasant).

People "think" the fans work because they are left sitting there IMMOBILE for 5-10minutes. It's NOT the fan drying the nails, it's the sitting IMMOBILE and being patient that dries the nails.
The only purpose an item like this serves is to keep your client sitting still, THAT'S IT.
Waste of money. Don't buy one.
That's why most techs don't have one.

Read up on your chemisty of how polish works and how it dries and you'll understand.
