Hi All,

I don't know if someone can help me with this. I qualified a while ago as a nail tech and have been using Creative l&p enhancements. Over the last few weeks I have put some on myself (which I have done several times before) but for some reason I've had around 3 nails just "pop" off the nail completely whole!! It's not because I have bashed them either, one came off tonight when I put my hand in my bag to get something out.

It's driving me nuts coz I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Has anyone else experienced this before?

Thanks for your help!!

Mmmm....if its come off whole like that then it was never really on in the first place...i am thinking this is down to prep..or not pressing the product onto the nail.

If they came off that easily, then they were not really 'on' in the first place.

This, in my opinion, sounds like a prep problem, run through it and we may be able to help.:)

Whoops, typing too slow again:lol:

I can't work it out as I'm not doing anything differently than I have been doing and it just seems to be happening recently. Although, I should point out that they are on my right hand and I am right handed so maybe I'm not able to get the right pressure perhaps?

My prep routine is apply cuticle eraser and solar oil, massage into cuticles, push back cuticles with chisel and remove any hangnails with nippers. I then remove the shine from the nail plate with a 240 grit file and wipe the nail plate over with Scrub Fresh to dehydrate it.

Thanks for your help!

prep doesnt need solar oil...

Do you think that's causing the lifting?? Honestly, that's the way we were taught to do it at college!! I just had to go and get my college books out to check!!!

If I cut that out of the routine do you think it could solve the problem? Funny though, that it hadn't happened before.

There's so much to learn, sorry for all the basic questions!

Solar oil could well be your problem.

As well as pushing back the cuticle are you making sure you remove all dead tissue from the surface of the nail plate ?

I would say this could be the problem.......i was never trainer to use solar oil during prep for enhancements.

yeah i would say that it was the solar oil too try it without and then see???? Also solar oil is great for drying out your nail polish apply it after the top coat has been on for a min and watch it work!!! x

Personally I think this is your problem....you need to scrub each fingernail with the scrubfresh...not just to rehydrate but to remove all traces of moisture and oil....so make sure you get right in all the nooks n crannies.
And as the others have said i personally dont think solar oil is necessary in your prep...part of the point of prep is to DEhydrate...not REhydrate. :green:

Adding oil after the top coat gives the polish a protective layer that prevent smudges and scrapes...rather than actually 'drying' the polish.

Using Solar Oil is not part of the CND prep routine for enhancements.

Solar oil is used in combination with Cuticle eraser for MANICUREbut not during the enhancement service.

Maybe you are getting mixed up between the 2 different services.

In any case, even if you do find it in your notes to do it this way ... you were taught incorrectly.

This is not correct.

Oil is not a protection against polish smudging. Using Solar Oil actually speeds up the drying process of polish by blocking Oxygen from the surface of the polish. Oxygen inhibits the drying of polish.

OK so can we get back to the thread topic which was that the enhancements were coming off??

Geeg has also given facts above hth's

Back to the thread ..........................

Hi girls,

Thanks so much for all your replies, all very helpful. I will definitely change my routine to exclude the solar oil as it seems that this is most certainly causing my problem.

I'll also mention it to the college, I'm going in for another course next week. It is definitely in their notes handout and also the way they teach the prep for their nail enhancement course (I didn't study there for my manicure qualification). But, I think I'll have to choose my words carefully - how exactly do I go about telling my tutor that she is wrong!!

Thanks all,

Jenni
