Im training at college atm
I use barbicide to sterilise my metal tools.
But how can I keep my nail files clean and safe?
Im sure when I'v had my nails done before, the therapist sprayed the file with something before she filed my nails.

Any ideas or products I could buy?

Thanks In Advance

hello.... is barbicide what they train you in college to use???

grrrrr..... well any ways the best thing to use and yes your right there is a spray, i trained with crative and they sell a spray called chlori spray which cleans ALL equiptment and cool blue which is a sanitiser for you and your customer like the gell they have in hospital wards.

Because you can only buy this spray from creative may be there is a simular version from a wholesaler which you can buy from under a different name... may be type it in on the seach up top, someone may have asked where you can buy it from other than creative.:)

Hope this helps!

remove the nail dusts off the file with a 'nail saver' dont use a nail brush because it doesnt really do the job.

Then spray the files with a alcohol based antipsetic solution and leave to dry. but if you are using single use files then you should be chucking them away in between clients

What I do is wash any files I want to re use and scrub them with a small nail brush then spray them with File Abrasive Disinfected from Mundo then leave it to dry.
Heres a link to their website.

I use a Salon Systems one - Profile Nail & File Antiseptic Spray. I'm pretty sure that Sally's stock Salon System and Capital Hair & Beauty deffo do. And also NSI Sanitize. HTH's :)

I'm another fan of the Mundo File Abrasive Disinfectant

Mundo File Abrasive Disinfectant is totally the product to be used on files and buffers between clients.

This is not correct. Barbicide needs changing DAILY.

Mundo Rapid needs replacing WEEKLY - so it's more cost effective, less time consuming and kinder to the environment. And it's medical grade too.

Hi there,

I use Backscrachers Calvicide in a tray for my implements. Each of my clients have their own files, which I clean with anti bacterial soap and then spray and once dry keep in their own air tight box.

Yes it would.

Your wording that Barbicide 'holds its power over time' suggested to me more than a day. My point is that modern products are available that 'hold their power' for a week.

Hiya Can you explain about the Mundo week thing, do you put in your sterilizing liquid in your tray and leave it for a week, sorry to ask its just that I use Barbicide and use it once then throw it away after each use. I might sound a bit thick on this question lol.:)
Thanx Tracy

Mundo Rapid Instrument & Tool Disinfectant can be used in either a disinfection tray or disinfection jar. The solution is READY TO USE and needs changing ONCE A WEEK (unless it appears dirty or discoloured). Tools should be wiped or rinsed before being inserted in the solution to remove any dirt and organic matter. Then tools need to remain in the solution for 5 MINUTES for effective HIGH LEVEL DISINFECTION. Once removed from the solution, there is NO NEED TO RINSE the tools - simply let them air dry or wipe them with a Mundo Hard Surface Disinfectant Wipe.

It really is that simple and it saves you time and money! (and it's medical grade too!!)

Thanx for replying will have to order some. :)
