No it is'nt the mans private parts, eeek imagine that... it is the nose

Hornification of the cells is the process that happens behind the nail bed, keratin is deposited in cells, the cells become "Horny" and go forth to create that harder surface we all know as the nail plate.

The less dodgy word for that is Keratinisation

onycholysis is typically caused by abuse or trauma.

the condition can heal over time if the client keeps the nail short, clean and dry.
the shorter the nail is kept the better as the nail is then less likely to suffer further trauma giving the nail plate and the nail bed a chance to realign with each other..
