A new customer today actually came for lash tint but showed me her nails. A bad case of nail seperation on a few of her nails, some have lifted from the middle out and about half way down too. She said her doctor said it was no fungal infection, and actually the nailand surounding area all look healthy. She apparently swims alot and some one said that could be the cause. The only advice i found i was able to give was to keep them short to prevent catching the nails and causing more lifting, and in time they will repair. Does anyone have any ideas as to the cause and any other treatment advice too please.

Hi, this sounds like a nail disorder called Onycholysis (Nail plate separation). Does she have extensions on? This can be caused by the enhancements being too long, aggressive filing and trauma to the nail plate. I would tell her to apply an oil to her nails and down the back and this should help.xx

Thanks for that, i had read about the benefits of oil, so will suggest that to her when i call. was just wondering if anything else we could suggest. About the extensions- she has never worn them ever, in fact she has lovely long nails apart from the onycholysis, that why the cause was baffling me.

x:)x

Hiya Yes tell her to use oil, I had a post on a couple of week back I had caught my nail which had caused it to start separating from the nail bed and cannot believe it since using oil now back to normal :)
