Nail Stencils

I have seen this beautiful nail art that I think was done with a stencil .. it basically has a word printed on the nail in dots. It's too neat not to have been done with a stencil. I'm just learning nail art and don't want to airbrush but I would like to be able to put words on nails. If I buy an airbrush stencil is it possible to paint through a stencil with a dotter or just a polish?

The stencils for airbrush are too fine to go over with anything other than an air brush, for the best effect, which 'blows' the paint in a fine mist through the perforations -- so in a word ... No!

Have you looked into impression tools? Here in the states, young nails have impression tools. We use them in the salon. If you want to do designs that are simple. Have you tried to use dotter tools. You can make nail art out of a few dots and lines. And it looks nice. ( : Marthor

well specifically it's letter stencils that I want .. I wonder if there are any small enough from general draft stores?

water decals are really what i was talking about they lat flat so can look painted or airbrushed you cut round the design you wish and drip a few bits of water onto them and then they just slide off the backing and onto your design, really simple but hugely effective.

Where can I find water decals? They sound like those temp tattoo's we used to use as a kid.
