This industry has changed so much lately I'm curious to find out what is still being offered on your lists?

And what the main money making treatments for you .

And if your new to nails what are you trained in and will you be going on to learn more systems ?

Do you do ?

Standard manicures

Standard pedicures

Luxury manicure

Luxury pedicure

Minx or an other nail wrap

Shellac or a UV color coat / gel polish

Uv gel ( overlay tip or sculpt )

L&p ( overlay tip or sculpt )

I am a mobile tech and I offer everything. I'm from the US and my license is in Cosmetology. I offer manis, pedis as well as spa manis and pedis. I do acrylic (sculpts and over tips), gels ( sculpts and over tips), Shellac, Gelish and OPI Gelcolor, as well as art. Being that my license even covers hair care, facials, waxing, and make up, I can offer those services as well.

I am a Mobile Nail Tech. My business is called New Nailz. I am only a small business that has only been running for a matter of months. So I charge low prices for a couple of reasons. To build up my clients, and because of the products I use at the moment. Hoping to build on what I use later on.

I offer

Gel Nail Extensions - £20 for natural and £25 for French (Tips)
Gel Overlay - £15
Gelish Polish - £10
Luxury Manicure - £18
Luxury Pedicure - £22
Trendy Nail Wraps - £10

And obviously infills, removals and smaller treatments, like shape and tidy etc.
I don't do acrylics, purely because I don't like them, I find they ruin the nail plate more the Gels! That is just my opinion...probably have few disagreements there. But we all have our own ideas of what we do and like :)

I am qualified in all Beautician work, ear piercing aswell. But haven't added this to my business, as it would be alot to take on with products etc. Maybe I will later on!

Before I start: no enhancement, unless done badly, causes damage to the natural nail.

I offer standard and luxury manis/pedis, ranging from £10 to £25 (there are 4 to choose from).

L&P Tip & Overlay (sculpt when necessary) - French/Natural normally £30 but doing 20% off (£24) until I feel confident enough to charge that much - only been doing this for 7 months :)

Shellac - £20 (add £2 for french and £5 for rockstar etc)

I used to offer Trendy Wraps but had 1 person ask (didn't book an appointment) in 6 whole months so took them off the price list.

I also do nail art - freehand, konad, 3D.

Xx

I have only ever know Acrylics to damage nail plates...Even when I had mine done. Obviously the nail tech who done mine, did a bad job. Friends who prefer Acrylics to Gel, also damaged nails. I agree, it is probably due to the nail tech who does the job. But because I don't do Acrylics, I can't say much more, only what I have seen. I do know however it is more durable and lasts better then Gels. :)

Yes, I am not doing too good with Trendy Nail wraps either. Not alot of people seem to be interested!

i am a nail tech and beauty/holistic therapist but my passion is nails!when i started my home salon i was only doing nails-manicures,pedicures both standard and luxury, gel overlays and extensions but have since added waxing, spray tan and bridal makeup to my list. was going to add more treatments but think actually that i want to specialise in nails so may stick with what i have got and just keep doing nail courses!!!xx

Well I'm sure not new to nails but I can say our business has changed in the last two years!!

We offer nails only. We have always offered every type of nail enhancement: L&P (which some call acrylic!) gels, wraps, manicure pedicure etc. Liquid & powder ( that awful stuff that damages nails ... Not) being the mainstay/backbone of our business, about 80%. Manis and pedis adding the other 20% and rising in the summer months.

4 years or more ago, Minx came into play and our pedi clients grew by 50% and is still going strong both summer and winter.

Two years ago Shellac hit the world! We were flooded with NEW natural nail clients. Our entire business grew by 35% in a year!

Now, I woud estimate that we do roughly a third Shellac, a third manis and pedis including Minx and a third nail enhancemnts with the majority being L&P. Our enhancement business is just as large as it ever was, it is the Minx and Shellac that have changed everything.

We charge 60.00 for enhancements, and 30.00 for Shellac and Minx (toes or fingers not including a full manicure or pedicure). We have a full-time salon with two permanent full-time nail technicians and me on call! Lol. Our client list is approx 300 regular clients. Nice!

wow, great stuff geeg.

I really must up my products lol

I am pure and simply a Nail Tech.

I offer:
Acrylic (L&P) nail enhancements, french, natural, glitter,
Gelish Gel polish, rockstar(glitter) & pearlised (mica powders)
Luxury spa manicure
Luxury spa pedicure

I have only been in business in my current location, a hair salon, for 6 months, building my own clientel.
The clientel from the hair side of things have all mainly been interested in Gel polish,
and that is my main treatment and therefore money earner.

I charge realistic prices for my services, and level of experience.

I have several enhancement clients, and slowly this side of the business is building as my name and repuation is getting out there.
There are so many 'white tip brigade' out there charging cheap prices that acrylic nails get a bad rep, and people sometimes don't realise how natural and beautiful they can look. It is not just about bunging on a white tip and pulling product over it ;)
But as I say I am slowly changing these perceptions in my area, and think come summer the enhancement side of my business will be as strong as the gel polish.

Luxury manis and pedis have not been popular, although I have not pushed them.

I have lots of bookings for Gelish toes though and some upgrade to a pedi once I give their feet a quick rub with cucumber heel therapy on their first appt :wink2:

Things definitely have changed, as when I had my first business over 10 years ago enhancements were 90% of my business with manicures only 10%..but gel polishes were only a dream then ;)

Established business must be reaping the rewards of this revolution by maintaining their enhancements clients, but gaining all these new clients for gel/power polishes.

However I do think this has been a great time for anyone starting out in the nail industry as we have never had so much choice to offer our clients.

I'm a nail technician and beauty therapist, also starting to do a bit of hairdressing. At the moments my nail services are so popular, followed closely by waxing.

I offer L&P and gel enhancements. This is probably 90% L&P/10% gel.
Shellac - this has brought in so many new clients, one's who have never considered having their nails professionally done before shellac was available.
I have a standard and deluxe manicure and pedicure - pedicure is far more popular than manicure unless combined with a shellac service.

I've noticed a huge increase in nail art over the last couple of years, I do so many colourful designs at the moment probably more so than french or natural. I never wear any art myself but tend to get a lot of referrals now from my nail art loving clients. Some of my regulars carry my business cards with them now to hand out to people who comment on their nails.

I am a beauty therapist but I enjoy nail services more than anything else.

I have recently gone mobile from renting a room in a hair salon. I offer a mini and a standard manicure and pedicure, Shellac and l&p enhancements. I would say that about 80% of my business is now Shellac. I rarely do a traditional polish manicure or pedicure although the pedicures are more popular. I cannot remember the last time I did a set of l&p enhancements :( but I think this is due to the clientele of the salon I used to work from. I am hoping now I'm mobile that I can push my enhancement services more as I really enjoy doing them.

i am a beauty therapist . i trained in 1990 but my main business has been always been waxing esp eyebrows, and electrolysis (diathermy) i have always done manis/pedis and fell in and put of love with extensions over the years. i do a lot of facials over the winter and they are replaced by tans over the summer.
i would have avoided doing gels like the plague and dabbled with L&P , got frustrated with it because i couldn't get a decent smile line. hang up the brush again. couple of years later go at it again. etc. i also detested applying tips because i couldn't get them blended properly without nearly taking lumps out of the clients nails.
shellac arrived and turned me on my head- talk about getting your mojo back - i became obsessed with nails, art work, rock stars etc. i was dreaming about designs and colour combinations.
then last year my eureka moment was discovering reverse application and sculpting. perfect smile lines now and no more drama blending tips.
i started with L&P then decided ok i'm going to tackle gels. now it's all gels that i do and i love it... i can do them now!!! they are not perfect by any means but they are good and getting better and that is the challenge.... to make the perfect set of nails. SG has definately helped me here.
gels 40, shellac 20 embellishments vary but usually +5. i think nail treatments at this stage make up about 50% of my trade .

I am like Rinn, I too am a BT. With the advent of Shellac (& the education) it has given me so much confidence that I am saving to do my Brisa/L&P course & I cannot wait!! :) it has ignited a passion for all things nails! I want to be the best I can. My Shellac is £20.

I'm a home based nail tech and offer nails only.When I started I was offering l+P and manicures only, but now I offer;
mani's and pedis (std and luxury) luxury pedi's being the most popular,
Shellac mani's and pedis (std and luxury) and were 90% off my business,
I'm now offering L+P again, after having a while out from them to re-gain my confidence in providing them, and over the last couple of weeks I've noticed a big increase in my L+P,especially since I've had the confidence to charge my full prices!
I also offer minx, which is slowly but surely picking up,and will increase in the summer!

My prices are in-line with salons local to me, as I don't see why I should charge less, I'm still providing the same services, and clients are absolutely loving the fact that I have a home salon, the response I've been getting the last few weeks has been amazing and so uplifting:) And I'm loving every minute of it lol As a bonus in my immediate area I don't have too much competition, and the feedback I've had is all positive, I've heard some shocking stories of other salons within my immediate area, not offering the correct/full shellac services or poor quality enhancements and to be honest it's bringing clients to me who are returning and passing the word around!

My future plans are to train in Brisa Gels, but one thing at a time at the moment!!

I'm purely a nail girl as well! I do:

Acrylic (L+P) both tip and overlay and sculpted, pink + white or glitter and sparkle!
Gel Polish, using OPI Axxium
Manicure
Pedicure
Minx

My business used to be 90% enhancements (full sets and rebalancing) and although that is still a nig part of my business the Gel Polish has brought me so many more clients. Minx rocks all year round!

I'm a beauty therapist thats been working since, '97, 6 years on my own.

My main money making treatment is waxing, i do so many eyebrows! But since the launch of Shellac, i'd say this is the second most popular. It's been amazing the difference it's made, i'm so much busier with Shellac now. I also offer Minx which is fab is the summer months. I've taken lux mani's off my price list but still offer lux pedi's, though i don't do many of these. I do a ton of pedi's all year round, and have just started offering Rockstar toes and nail art which i LOVE, theirs so much you can do!

Nails are changing all the time, im constantly updating my price list! I'm unsure whether to train in enchancments yet.. Something to think about maybe..
