HI everyone,

I'm doing my Nail Tech course next month :) and a looking at purchasing a nail trainer to practise on once my course is over and before I venture on to real people!

I have seen lots of Essential Nail 'hands' on eBay but am wondering if it's better to buy a second hand 'package' that includes the powders, tips, files etc or if it's better to purely buy the hand alone and buy the extras from a wholesalers once I have done the course?

I'm guessing the products that are used on a trainer hand are different to that used on a real hand?

Can anyone advise on what products I'd need to be able to start practising so I can see if there are any on FleeBay to watch out for please?

Really appreciate anyone's help! xx

With the nail trainer hand the resin/glue you use to fix the tip on is different. The other products acrylics and monomer are the same. I wouldn't buy 2nd hand powders or monomer, but nothing wrong in buying a secondhand 'hand' Good luck!

I'd stick with just buying the hand hun. Its not worth you practising with a different product that your going to train in
Hope u enjoy your course

Id agree with the comments made and i think you should use the products you are going to be training with too. Products can work differently and have different mix ratios and feel different to apply, if you learn with one and practise with another you won't have any consistency and will make your life harder. Initially i thought surely this is a waste of my expensive product but i quickly realised i was wrong on that. Also dont throw away any tip cuttings they are great for sticking in blue tac to practise your smile lines.
The nail trainers are excellent, i love mine! You wont regret buying one i promise :green:
hope that helps xx

Sorry to but in. I am thinking about investing in a nail trainer too. Can gel be used on them?

The products you need to buy especially for the nail trainer are adhesive (like Anne Niven said) because normal adhesive takes longer to set because the hand is cold. Although, I have used a normal one on mine, it just means your holding a tip in place for longer than you would on a human. More importantly you need a special primer because the "nails" are made of plastic. As far as I am aware all other products are fine.

Here's a link for more info and where to buy refills

Hope this helps:)
