Always best to learn in the class room with a tutor if you can. Nothing like instant live feedback and the tutors experience and interaction with other students. Learning nails is no 'walk in the park' especially if one hopes to compete with the good technicians out there!

If you use the search above and put in training, or home learn or private or company training you will be reading for weeks and save allot of sore fingers !! Welcome to the nail geek

Hi Jenny, like yourself im a newbie! I just completed my manicure and pedicure course at Dundee College and I've now booked myself on an NSI gel course in Glasgow. Im sure there is places in Edinburgh which might be closer for you. Its not cheap either as I am discovering!! I managed to use ILA funding for the course I am booked on too which is a bonus!

My course is a home learn and it's the only nail course I've done so I can only really comment on that. Home learn I think is good if your working full time or have family comitments, BUT you need to be motivated to actually do it. In all honesty I lost a little interest with mine,:smack:(back on track now though!) what with working all day and the distraction of housework, the tv and the internet at night (this site being the most distracting!) and with the nice weather...
It's good though that you can do it in your own time and as often as you want but you do need to be quite disciplined.

There is little point in buying a training hand to see if you like it first, because you would need to buy all the products too, and that isn't just a couple of quid! And you need to know what your doing, and like Geeg says nails arn't easy!

If you were to choose a home learn course, I do mine with Essential Nails, there is loads of online and telephone support, and there is a group on this site which is really helpful too. But if you have the time I think it would be best to go for classroom based training.

Hope this helps :green:
