I am In the middle of training and am currentlyone using a nail trainer with the odd real pair of hands when they are free!

What are your guys oppinion on the best way to practice - nail trainer or real person?

I like my trainer for the fact I cant hurt any1 but i like a real pair of hand otherwise i feel like i'd never really find out if my filing has gone to far!

Any oppinions would be super xx

Perhaps fill in your profile a bit more so that we know who/where you have trained and what products/systems you are using. It helps when answering your questions.

Nail Trainers are excellent, especially when starting out. As you said, there's no risk of hurting someone and you can practice practice practice. If you can produce a good set of nails on a nail trainer, you'll find it so much easier when you come to doing it on a real person, although you may be nervous.

Keep practicing on the nail trainer and on real people when you get the chance. If you are finding it difficult to get real people to practice on, keep at it with the nail trainer. You can never practice enough.

Don't concentrate too much on your timings as they will come down the more experience you gain.

I sold my nail trainer only because I was relocating but I still miss it when trying out new products or designs.

Good luck!:)

My nail trainer does my head in as i find it hard to stick the tips to it! but yes i would say keep ya trainer and keep practicing good luck xx

I love my nail trainer its become my best friend BUT you cant beat a real person as then you can see the longevity of your nails and any problems that are accuring!! After all the trainer shows you a great set of nails but doesnt show you the re-growth after a few weeks and any lifting probs!!

I have a trainer hand, too, (Mrs Carrie Palmer) and I love her to pieces! I got her used from a friend online because I don't know very many people here or I didn't when I started school and I was afraid it would be hard for me to find people to practice on. I have insomnia and she is always there for me to practice on even if it is 3 am. My teacher said he doesn't like practice hands, but he doesn't know Mrs Palmer, lol. I do my practice sets on friends for class and all, but if I want to try something new or strange, to Mrs Palmer I go. I really think you need a combination.

100% Agree!

You don't have to stick tips on. I think the 'hand' is most beneficial for practicising mixed ratios, pressing and guiding techniques and, above all, smile lines!!!!

If someone is struggling with their smile lines, I very often advise them to get their hand out and just keep applying the whites to zone one, bin those five, do another five, etc, etc.
