Hi all.

I've been doing nails for a few months now, but sometimes i find it difficult getting people to practice on. So I was thinking about getting a nail hand trainer.... I'm trying to source one at a decent price. Wheres the best place to look?? I've had a glance on ebay, but don't have a clue how to work it

Thanks Geeks :green:

xx

I found the best practise was on real nails but good idea to geta 2nd hand one on ebay you can always sell it back again if you dont use it so you wont lose too much money.

hello i have to agree a real hand is best. i have just completed a EN course in which i practised on the nail trainer.I found it hard as its nothing really like a real hand at all.. The shape isnt right. i find the real hand better ..

Havent u got anyone in ur family to practise on even if its a finger or hand. be much better.. Iv even practised on hubby 1 finger lol

Do you know about the blue tac finger idea hun? Its great for practising on, now i cant take credit for it i think it was the lovely geeg's idea! You basically make a finger out of blue tac - roll it into shape, and push a nail tip into it. If you want some more stabiltiy i push a cocktail stick into the blue tac too. Its fab for practising smile lines, and you can see anywhere you may have been heavy handed with your file as there would be imprints in the blue tac. Also dont be throwing away those tip offcuts, keep them for practising on.
I did use a nail trainer hand too while practising and love it still, i still have lots to practise lol!! A combination of real hands, a nail trainer and lots of practise with your blue tac finger is the key! hope that helps xxx

So I'm i right in thinking, you just get abig bit of blue tac, shape it into life sized finger, and there you have it...? Never thought of that :green:

Thank you, I'm gonna give that awee shot. x

Yeah we used to do that when we were trainning. We would get a ball of blue tac, stick it to a table and stick the tip to the top. Fab.

Try and pin down anyone you can though because like the others said, practice on real people is vital xx

Another way to practice if you cant get real thing is to pack a rubber glove very tightly with either rice or flour (prefer flour). Elastic band around the wrist to keep it all in and then stick some tips on end of fingers. You can then add tips to those tips to practise your blending and then add product as necessary.

Obviously not as good as real thing but better than nothing!
