We all post here when we need help and advise (and what a godsend the geek is for that!!) while its good to ask for help I believe its good to say when you have conquered something that you found tricky!! If not just becuase you deserve to shout about success but it gives hope to others perhaps still struggling in that area!!

So keeping this nail (natural and enhancements L&P, Gel, etc it all counts!!) related what do you feel you have conquered?

May sound daft but I used to dread, no, LOATHE doing french polishes!! In the salon I worked in the girls gave all those bookings to me to help me overcome my fear!! Yet it didnt help!!! However the other night I did a french manicure, without thinking (or panicking or flapping!!) and I suddenly thought,
"hey look at me I can do this!!!"

I have to say it was a lovely feeling!!

So c'mon nail geeks shout about your achievements!!!!:)

White l+p smile lines - OMG I can't tell you how hard I used to find them!! But, I persevered and now they aren't bad (I'm not good at extreme smiles, but most people don't want them thankfully).......

Good thread TL

It's a bit of an odd thing to conquer, but I now work very cleanly.

I'm quite a clumsy person and when I first began, be it Manis, Pedis or enhancements I always ended up with stuff, tools and product everywhere. Glue would be stuck to everything and i'd find pieces of solar manicure weeks later.

I've finally got to the point where I just have a little dust.

Shaping!! One day it just clicked and I can now do a very pretty rounded square. =) Makes me feel all fuzzy just thinking about it.

Some good answers geeks, well done!!

Vetty I long for the day I can say I am "there" with smiles!!!!:irked: lol

I was the same with french manicures, got over it, then didn't seem to do one for ages, had a few the other day, I can do them fine but just don't seem to enjoy doing them, I think it's all in my head!

The one thing I really conquered was form fitting, it took a while and one day it just clicked. I used to shy away from forms at every turn but don't even think about it now.

Great thread

As quite a newbie I have had a couple of EUREKA moments ...my first blended tip..what joy...and the first time I had a client come back for an infill with all her tips still attached... I actually felt like I was doing something right at last ...xx

rebalances!!!
i used to always be unhappy with them to a point, but of late , i breeze through them, im 100% happy with them, im doing them quicker a lot quicker now!!! everything about them is right!!!

its made me a much more confident tech!!

i still feel so happy when some one has come back for an infill, its such a great feeling.
also i love it once ive done a set of nails and i look at them and think they actually look really good im really pleased with them.

Well, tonight I did my first infill - YYEEHHHAAAA!!!!
And also tonight, whilst waiting for my client, I was trying to conquer popits, (didnt work - need to keep at them..) so then tried to use a form and sculpt my own nail, and yipppeeee - it worked!!! I did my first sculpt, albeit one!!
So those are my firsts.....
But french polishes are the scariest things in the world, to be avoided like the plague!! lol  I can do them, but am very critical of myself that I dont think they are worth charging for, need to keep practising!

My first infill was like being on top of the world!! Still after 3 years do i enjoy that, not just because of my work must be ok, but the aftercare advice has actually gotten through to some clients for a change. I too long for the day that i can do sculpts as i only ever use tips. At college we only had to do 2 sculpts in order to pass ( VTCT what a joke! ) so never mastered it, and once i started work at a salon she never wanted to endorse them so i never tried again. Now i'm not working due to illness i'd like to try again while i'm so bored at home.
I'd love to try poppits too.
My best moment was passing my Creative conversion course, i love that certificate the most!!:green:

Smile Lines, bead placement and brush control for me. I used to have wonky smiles and hideously thick nails but now I have good brush control my smiles are much better and I can place a mean bead lol
Good thread btw
xx Karen

Also being very new, the best moment for me was when I managed to apply a tip without an air bubble and blend it succesfully :green: I almost cried, lol

ooh god , i used to hate french manis , i can do em fine now (never thought i would ever get the smile looking nice )
also i can sculpt a lot better now , granted its not 100% perfect but its tons better :green:

Sculpting for me.....
I just really struggled to sculpt....which started the minute I had to put on the forms....and it would go downhill from there....

But once I managed to do a full set of sculpts I just felt so happy....I felt I had conquered a huge hill....but I still have lots of mountains to conquer!!!!

Well done Jo!! I felt elated when I learnt how to sculpt!! Still have a lot of perfecting to do but I love sculpting now!!

my mix ratio was quite a big problem for me....i seemed to cope and grasp well the applying of tips and fitting a form if i wanted to sculpt.....but none of that is any good if you are applying the product incorrectly and causing product breakdown...as i found out!
I was absolutly horrified with myself when a client came in with a greenie.....because i thought oh well even if it wasnt perfectly applied they still looked good in the end. Well....lesson well learnt there!!!!!!!!!
After speaking with a few fellow geeks (sandi...thanks) and using my nailclass book i think i am getting there now with it......not a centre pocket lift in sight, lol!!
Good thread TL!
xx

Mine was also the french polish, would try and avoid them at any cost

But thanks to the threads on here and Nailzoo's excellent videos I feel confident in them now
