Looking for some help and advice please.................

Last week i had a client for a nno in gel. Firstly i had to soak off her nno acrylics (not done by me) as she didnt like acrylic so i soaked them all off and proceeded with her nno. She emailed me 3 days later to say they had all started to peel at the sidewalls. Now ive been doing nno on my mum for 6 months now with no problems so i have a few questions.

1. Would the soak off cause these problems?

2. Here natural nails were very very weak and flexible would this cause premature lifting?

She is coming back this morning for me to take a look and sort them out so any help and advice would be great.

Thank you x

Soaking off her old set should not of caused the lifting.

Did you thoroughly prep the nails before hand ( I'm sure you did, but just checking) to remove all non living tissue
Did you cap the free edges properly - as the curing of the gel can cause the gel to shrink back a little, so you must cap all free edges to combat 'curling'. Then ensure you did not file the capping of when finishing with your file.

If her nails are very weak & soft, she would be better suited to L&P (I'm CND trained and use both L&P & Brisa), as the L&P will give her the strength her nails don't have. Brisa gel is more suited to dry brittle nails that break easily so offering flexibility - L&P are more suited to soft, weak nails offering the strength they need.

Why did she not like having L&P on?

L&P still needs to cap the nail free edges btw, but it does not shrink as much as gel once polymerised.

Thank you Bev, she didnt like L&P as she felt it wasnt as natural as Gel!! I thought the L&P she has on looked lovely tbh it would have been easier to file that down and just do an infill but what the client wants!!

Im really at a loss but still feel as her nails were so weak and flexible that is what has caused the lifting but just needed others opinions before she comes today!!

Either of the two things, the soak off or the weakness of the natural nails, could have contributed to the lifting. Also I'm sure her nails looked no more natural with gel than they did with L&P ... God, I wish clients just left the job to the professionals. Now she will know that in this case L&P would have been much more durable as a NNO than the gel on this type of nail.

I agree the L&P she had on when she first come looked just a natural as the gel!!

Sorry, I was just reading the replies and wondered...Bev, what does capping mean? Thanks xx
