Hi All

Been a while since i last posted and i have had a look to see if i could find a pervious issue with this but i couldnt see one. So here is my problem I havent done natural overlays on anyone else except my self, I have a client who has lovely nails and i suggested she have over lays rather than tips but she wanted tips so i obliged, but she had lifting very quickly afterwards (i'm not sure why all other sets i have done have been fine in the last few weeks) so she asked that i over lay them next time. Obviously I know the tips arent causing the lifting thats not my issue.

My problem is when i have overlaid my nails before i find I get seperation of the natural nail and acrylic on the free edge especially on the corners. I'm worried that this will happen on my clients nails especially as she has the problem of her index finger nails curving once they reach a certain length.

Is there anything i can do? and why do i get the seperation?
Thanks for your help xx

Are you capping your free edge? You need to pull the product over the free edge slightly, that should ensure no lifting will occur!

its been a while since I did my own don't think i used to do that, so that would explain my problem do you think this would solve my clients curving issue though I know nails tend to grow the way they want regardless of what we want lol
Thanks for your response :)

What brand is it you use? Is it acyrlic did you say? If it's only happening on 1 client it could be that it is something she is doing for example does she take any medication? Is she putting her hands in strong chemicals?

If it's only her index fingers that curl, maybe you could apply tips for those and overlay the rest, and then re-do the tipped nails when the curling starts. You could also get her to oil those curling nails more often, well oiled nails tend to curl less.

My own nails are awful for curling, I cannot wear overlays because my free edge just pings off the acrylic. I have to cut them down short and use tips, and then soak off and re-do every 3 weeks. It's a pain but it's better than having a free edge loosing off the back of the product!
